tldr dont buy this game unless you REALLY crave more dr2 content long answer, this game frustrates me as it amazes me. like any game that gets a refurbished sequel, you start notice cracks in a game that you wouldnt have otherwise. unfortunately, this game does not do DR2 any favours. it looks worse, performs worse(poor optimisation) and gets rid of rally cross. not to mention the terrible anti cheat added post launch in the name of competition, which also conveniently only works on windows- meaning that despite the game running fine on steam deck and linux devices, upon the anti cheat being released you are basically forbidden to play a game you bought for, and its kernel level anti cheat doesnt really put me at ease either, with a few people complaining the game doesnt work at all despite being on windows! this game was ruined by EA. the nail in the coffin was the post launch anti cheat, not only pausing development on future rally titles but giving up on the franchise despite it bei...

So I just got off the phone with Max, and we both agree that EA Sports WRC doesn’t really deserve its mixed reviews. Yes, players aren’t thrilled about EA taking over, but honestly, their presence - beyond the logo plastered everywhere - doesn’t hit you in the face and doesn’t spoil the party. Monetization-wise, the game does nothing different from what previous installments did without EA, and all the other stuff - polish, licensed music, WRC license - is absolutely welcome. I’m as surprised as Max about that, actually. Max is right to point out that the overall physics/handling model is slightly different, but if you ask me, the change from DR 2.0 isn’t drastic. Cars still feel heavy, surfaces still matter, and without all the accessibility options, the experience is just as visceral and intense as it was in DR 2.0. Yes, it’s different, but the engine is different. You can’t do a one-to-one clone - you have to work around the tech. I’m sure that if this wasn’t Co...
Horribly optimized. The game lowers in performance the more you play it. I have an I5 12th gen and an 4060 but at ULTRA LOW SETTINGS with DLSS ULTRA PERFORMANCE it only got 35 fps?
I'm just angry that EA decided to: 1. Add Kernel-level anti-cheat to a mostly single-player game. This means that many who use linux bought it when it could be played and are now locked out, but also raises questions on proportionality by using such incredibly invasive methods on all users for issues of so little consequence. 2. Bought Codemasters and then just shut the whole operation off. Like, wtf EA... The game itself was actually fine, but with decisions like these I cannot support this game!
EA SPORTS™ WRC kind of suprised me with how the game feels and plays i thought i get another DiRT Rally like experience with uncontrollable and not as fun physics but no its different in this one it feels more Simcade which is nice: Pros: + great car list (19 classes and 99 cars) one of the best i have seen in a rally game + 20 locations (each location with 6 stages and 6 reverse) + driving physics are fun (if you use full traction control/abs then it kinda feels a little like the older DiRT games) + overall the career mode how its made on its core its fun but sadly not randomized after season 1 + track designs are good + moment mode (a time attack mode with goals to get medals) is good but a little bit to easy for the most part + custom championship mode you have a lot of freedom here, can create your own with all settings like events/weather/car class and more + if the server goes down someday in the future for this game then its good playable all career mode and custom champions...
holy lord the EA bloat is obnoxious.
Graphics looks absolutely bad, even with rtx 4070 ti si, and the game forces you to do rally races that force you to keep a pace, aka go very slow. Idk what moron thought that would be fun.
Simply unplayable. Make a rally simulator with no triple screen support -> players use 3rd party software to play the game in triple screen -> update the anticheat to block the software I guess there's better games to play then.
0/5 The worst game of the last decade This game is why I will never again spend money on anything that EA, or Codemasters, or Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson, or Senior Vice President David Rutter, or Senior Producer Ross Gowing have any association with. WRC... excuse me... 'EA SPORTS WRC!!!!' (whoa!!!! bruh!!! it's sooooooooooo cooool!) is a masterclass in how NOT to make a game. EA SPORTS WRC (whoa!!! soooooooooooooooooooooo coool!) is a perfect example of what is wrong with video-games as a whole. This game is trash. TLDR. But more importantly, it's a perfect example of why most games are trash now. Trash DLC that is released late and not really worth the price. Trash anti-cheat slop running in the background. Trash optimization so the game runs like a one-legged sloth. There was a perfect template here for the perfect rally game. But they messed it up... like they always do. Shortsightedness is a plague that is running rampant through the gaming industry. ...
Even for $15 it's not even close to worth it. This game is somehow worse then the last game from 6 years ago. Someone please explain how that is even possible. Oh wait... EA. For any serious player the VR immersion is terrible and it feels like an arcade game. I thought that was what the Regular Dirt games were for. Anyways I refunded as it is not even worth the money on sale. I instead put my money into Dirt 2.0 full season pass for $20 as I'd rather stick with the older game as everything about that game was better.
