I want to preface everything by saying I was a dedicated fan of the Dragon Age series since Origins. I've played all the games, read through the published material. From Grey Warden to Inquisitor I will say this series is unique in terms of atmosphere, character interplay, and a setting that felt both grounded and fantastical. Dragon Age Veilguard is not a successor in anything but name to previous titles. Dialogue is bland. It's obvious AI tools were used heavily. It is painful and most times is just fluff. Most conversations have no meaning beyond the superficial words and it always feels like you're simply dancing around conflict. Once you talk to one NPC, you might as well have spoken to them all. No one offers unique insights as to their origins, background, or experience outside of a couple questlines and even then, never fleshed out. Combat is sterile in that it just comes down to how many combos you can make with the characters you have in your party. Outside of the damage, i...

fun? yeah cringe? incredibly worst DA game there is? absolutely on my second go playing it, i got super hooked. i did have a lot of fun playing it, but throughout all of it all i could really think was "man i wanna play dragon age inquisition/2/origins right now" or "man i should reread last flight" i think it's worth it to buy on a decent sale, but it's poorly optimized, does the other games dirty in a lot of ways, and has some pretty lackluster writing in most places. characters all feel like they're missing something, the romances are barely present, you can't play it as a first game before the other entries without spoiling a million things and unraveling so many things the previous games teach you. they ruined my favourite DA book character!!!!!!!! i know people have also whined about "woke" but DA has always been "woke", taash's queer storyline is just poorly written and heavy handed. representation is cool, but god it couldve been written way less cringe i never wanna see pe...
I have played and 100% every dragon age game including this one and this is the least memorable of them all. Nothing in this game stands out and it was kinda a slog to get through comparable to other DA games where i never wanted them to end. Sad.
Look it's not Clair Obscur or Baldurs Gate level of greatness but minor issues aside, it's a pretty enjoyable game once you get past the first 2 or so missions and allow yourself to become immersed in the story the game is telling. I would say just give it a chance because it's definitely not nearly as bad as its made out to be.
It's a good time. It's a fun videogame and not much else. If you're expecting a game with writing as good as previous entries, you'll be disappointed. It fails as a Dragon Age game, and realistically as an RPG experience. But levelling is fun, and the gameplay is good. If you accept it for what it is, it's not a bad time. But if you want to vote with your wallet, let Bioware know that this isn't the direction you want the series to go, I'd wait for a sale. For, like, 7-10 dollars it's definitely worth your time.
I loved this game. It was very different to Inquisition in many ways and took me a while getting used to. I heard mixed reviews and I see why but at the end I thoroughly enjoyed it and after finishing the game I feel sad and miss my friends. Great game, do play it.
As with a lot of others, I don't get all of the hate on this game. It was actually really enjoyable. The combat The combat is pretty fun. It's varied, but it can get a little monotonous at times. But, it never got to be so monotonous that I wanted to put it down. There are plenty of boss fights and the customization of the combat metrics is pretty detailed... making some of the fights pretty difficult, but rewarding. Graphics and visuals Quality artwork in this game. Many beautiful places and things to see. The only real complaint I have is the monsters were a bit cartoon-like or dumbed-down from other Dragon Age iterations--especially the Darkspawn. The NPCs (including your team), while attractive, didn't fit the old-school Dragon Age vibe, also being a bit on the cartoon-like side. As folks have mentioned in other places, the Qunari are now just humans with horns. Is that bad? No, not really... just not what we're used to. The character creator on the other...
veilguard is a pretty decent RPG, but really doesn't shine as a dragon age game. mechanically, it's pretty fun to play. best platforming in a DA game yet, though not having open world maps is a major limitation. the final quest/battle sequence is one of the most engaging i've ever played. do i recommend it? yes, but only in a "yeah, sure" kind of way. I'm not saying it with my full chest.
Some of the worst writing and game play I have ever seen. A disgrace to the dragon age franchise.
DA:O is my favourite game, so I really tried giving this game a chance. They destroyed everything good about this game. The art style feels completely off, the characters are bland, the story is poorly written, and the combat is terrible (seriously my character was slamming his fists on the ground and doing elbow drops). Completely waste of money, don't buy.
