The story can be summarized as a surreal, dream-like descent into a person's unraveling, revolving around themes of obsession, grief, and loss. What stood out the most to me was the game’s visuals, art direction, and overall presentation. It’s a chaotic but cohesive blend of different mediums—stop motion, collage-style photos, rough 2D drawings for the maps, and more. My personal favorites are the small, gif-like animations for your artifacts, eyes, and mouths. It's also interesting that it's like body horrer but in an kind of quirky, almost goofy way. The game also stands out with its unique take on card-based combat. For example, it uses a familiar three energy per turn combat system, but the twist is that the energy is used to arm yourself, not attack. That way you can hold onto some of the artifacts (which I guess you can say are like the cards) for the right moment or you can use them immediately. The enemy system is something I haven’t seen in other games too. The "Ma...

A surreal deckbuilder that has a surprising emphasis on narrative and exploring the subconscious. Nothing like it out there visually and I found the translation to be quite nice. There are a lot of fictional references to other stories with characters facing similar situations, which added a depth and maturity to the material that I don't see in a lot of other roguelites.

Out of Hands drops you into a world where you are made OUT OF HANDS. A unique card game that features a unique story and plenty of fun gameplay elements. It has a vast world to explore with all sorts of secrets scattered about. It offers a unique means of escalating the difficulty of battles after each fight. Disturbingly charming characters guide you through this world and vie for your attention, as you learn the reason you are now made OUT OF HANDS. It offers multiple endings that will either disturb or move you. There is also plenty of customization for your character and deck, affecting the methods you take into battle. It is truly a blast to play, and I cannot recommend it anymore—a solid 9 out of 10. Thank you for reading this review. Sincerely, Quiet Storm

Out of Hands is one of the most uniquely disturbing and artistically bold games to emerge from the indie scene in years. It combines deck-building mechanics with psychological horror in a way that feels both innovative and deeply personal. You play as a fragmented consciousness trapped in a surreal and nightmarish version of your own body—one made entirely of hands. Every card, every enemy, every action is a metaphor for internal trauma, regret, and mental collapse. It's not just a game about winning battles or unlocking abilities—it's about coming to terms with a version of yourself that’s difficult to look at, let alone understand. From the very beginning, the game makes it clear that this isn’t just another card game with a quirky gimmick. It’s a descent into grief, memory, and self-reckoning. Visually, the game is unlike anything else. It’s a haunting collage of photographed hands, stop-motion animation, hand-drawn textures, and flickering video elements that evoke dis...
