⚔️ HARVESTELLA - Farming Fun with a Twist
What I Played: Spent a cozy weekend tending to my virtual farm, recruiting allies, and battling those pesky threats! The Good:

Building my own house and customizing it was so satisfying. It felt like my little virtual sanctuary.
Cooperating with allies added a nice layer of strategy to the usual farming routine. It felt like we were really a team!
The Bad:

Wish there were more variety in the threats we faced. After a while, it started feeling a bit repetitive.
The controls were a bit wonky at times, especially during intense battles. Maybe I just need more practice!
Verdict: Recommended - If you're into life-sims with a side of RPG elements, this one's a good pick. It has a charming vibe and some neat gameplay mechanics to keep you entertained. Time to harvest some fun!

About This Game
HARVESTELLA, an all-new life-simulation RPG from SQUARE ENIX!
Our protagonist awakens during the height of Quietus, a disaster that visits with the changing of each season – and a threat to all life.Lead a life of self-sufficiency with your vibrant house as a base and cooperate with allies to overcome various threats, all as you draw ever closer to the truth behind the disasters and the very world’s creation!
Quietus
The season of death that visits with the changing of the seasons. Plants wither. People cannot even walk around outside, due to the dust of death that fills the air. And each year, Quietus persists for longer and longer…World
Nemea Town, where cherry trees bloom all year round. Shatolla, a seaside town home to a bustling tavern. Lethe Village, resplendent in the vibrant colours of the four seasons. The Holy Capital of Argene, cloaked in snow. Use the world map to travel to all these settlements and their respective dungeons. You will have to traverse beautiful, treacherous paths to reach the Seaslights – four giant crystals that govern the seasons.Daily Life
Grow fruit, vegetables and crops in your fields to either sell or use as crafting materials. If you use the produce you’ve grown in your cooking, the food will grant extremely helpful effects for your adventures, such as HP recovery or temporary stat boosts! It might also be a good idea to take care of some plump cluffowl birds, dignified goat-like woolum, and a pet totokaku.Allies
Shrika, a missionary searching for a new form of faith. Heine, a pompous gentleman mechanic.Asyl, descendent of the Wind poem people. And Aria, a mysterious girl who claims to have come from the future. Cooperate with – and sometimes clash with – your allies, including these characters among others. Reach a deeper mutual understanding by facing their worries and their way of life head on.
Combat
Overcome battles by switching seamlessly between jobs during combat – including the Fighter, adept with swift sword techniques, the Shadow Walker, which deals critical wounds with twin blades, or the Mage, specialising in magic attacks. When faced with a mighty foe, skilfully target their weak points to inflict the Double Break state and take them down in an instant!Screenshots
User Reviews
It's not a terrible game but, it isn't my cup of tea. There's not really much to the farming aspect of the game and I felt that the area that you have for the entire time I played the game was way too small. The farming controls felt awkward and I never really looked forward to tending the garden like I do in other similar games. The combat is the worst part for sure. Switching jobs/classes mid combat is a cool idea however, every attack I used felt like it had zero weight or impact which made combat in general an unpleasant experience. While the story was somewhat interesting, I feel like this game tries a bunch of things but doesn't do any aspect particularly well. It makes it quite difficult for me to personally recommend.
This is one of those games that's a "meh" at best. There's a lot to it, so it has that going for it, however, it's trying to be a mix between an ARPG and a farming sim....and it falls short and leaves you wanting in both regards. EVERYONES and i mean absolutely everyones story is sad, and depressing and just leads to miserable time playing it. I want to play farming sims for cosy feels, to escape the miseries of an already crappy world. Not with this game though, for some reason you have to take every burden, sadness and pain as your own, no matter how small. It's exhausting and leaves you exiting the game feeling worse than when you first opened it. Even the gameplay loop isn't really very satisfying. Combat is janky, if you're fighting one of the large powerful creatures and move one step too many, it will just de-spawn and re-spawn back at full life, even if it's only a hit away from being killed. One of them couldn't get around one of my party members to hit me and just kept repe...
Part farm sim, part JRPG with charming party members and a decent enough story. A full chivo run clocked in for me at 53 hours, but if you just rushed the story I'd anticipate it'd be about half that. As it is I enjoyed my time with it, but I'd struggle to recommend it at full price. Grab it on sale and enjoy.
Harvestella? Next thing you know they'll be harvesting moons, or runes, in factories.
--- It's a good farm/RPG sim, but leans a lot more on the FF flair/vibe. Recommend waiting for a sale unless you're looking to scratch that farming itch.
pretty chill game
If you like Harvest Moon and Final Fantasy, then you will probably like this game. I believe this is Square's first farming simulator attempt, and I like that they added their flair to it.
The story was a pleasant surprise — you don’t really expect a farming sim to even try something on a Yoko Taro level. Sadly, once you look past the story, everything else in the game turns out to be pretty disappointing.
HARVESTELLA, published by Square Enix, is a bold and unexpected fusion of life simulation, farming mechanics, and traditional Japanese RPG storytelling. Released on Steam, the game aims to bridge two seemingly different genres: the laid-back, day-to-day rhythm of farming sims like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley, and the narrative-driven, combat-heavy style of Final Fantasy or Rune Factory. While it doesn't always achieve perfect harmony between its gameplay components, HARVESTELLA offers a unique and ambitious experience that deserves recognition for its scope, worldbuilding, and emotional core. At the heart of the game is your player-created protagonist, who awakens during a deadly seasonal event called Quietus—a time of death and decay that occurs between the four vibrant seasons. This mysterious phenomenon disrupts the natural flow of time and agriculture, and its creeping influence becomes the central mystery of the plot. From the outset, HARVESTELLA establishes a strong narrat...
I have spent too much time on reddit, and downgrading and upgrading...uninstalling and reinstalling, moving the files over from one hard drive to another...only to hit the play button and get on a black screen that doesnt load a game at all. I have less than 20 minutes on this game BECAUSE I cant even load it on this computer or my laptop. My friend gets stuck on a black screen when he uses his steam deck on specific chapters??? Nah, for 60 bucks I expected better. And I have troubleshoot the crap out of this. If I can run games like The Finals (with their own code being issues) and Dune awakening....You'd think I would be able to run a single player game...but I cant even load up the "NEW GAME" option...tf?
