Cold Verdict is a good short visual novel with choices and different endings. It’s not an erotic VN and also no real escape room game. 5 people, who are unknown to each other, awake in a locked room. Along their journey to find an exit, they are forced to share their memories about a common tragedy. I bought it for less than 1€ and recommend it for that price.

Cold Verdict started off grabbing my interest with it’s story. I’m a sucker for seemingly random people waking up together and having to piece together a puzzle. The longer the game went on though the more of my interest got lost. It seemed like some pretty thin reasons to have these people together and when it came time for the ending I was even more surprised at who got to live and die. It just didn’t make much sense to me given what had been revealed. The characters themselves weren’t all that interesting at times. They felt a little wooden in their dialogue, too much straight business talk without much emotion. Although Landon had the opposite issue. Also Dean didn’t get very much to do compared to the rest. There are a decent amount of choices you can make and they can change the story a bit. The art was alright for the people themselves but the environment and objects felt a little low resolution and lacking detail. I played Cold Verdict on Linux. I happened to try t...
1st let me say I do not like visual novels and this isn't one. There are choices and there is a very good story here. You could even call it a mystery. It's the reading I don't care for. But there were actually enough fun elements, the sense of mystery, the slight detective angle, the interesting characters, all with short back-stories, and one hell of an ending to keep you engaged. Sure there are different paths, but as short as it was, I was satisfied with the game overall for the price. Try it and I think you'll enjoy an hour or two of what the hell happened here?!! I know there's a sequel which I believe is even shorter, but I hope they'll make a 3rd installment that's even longer!!!
Very, very short history: it can be played in just one hour. It's more an intro than a real game as the ending is completely open, so I guess the dev will release the full game on the future, or at least more chapters, if not, it is a complete waste of time. Steam achievements are buggy, despite I completed the game, I just received one achievement. Perhaps because for some reason, even it has a linux native client, it launched through proton when I tried to play remotely with Steam Link and it hung (that's why it appears as I've played more than 5h) English is not my native language but I found several typos and orthographic errors, so I guess english native speakers would find it quite horrible. I bought it at half price so I'm not mad for paying 1,6€, but if I'd have known, I would saved it the money and the time.
Leon and Clair, police investigator, so it's Resident Evil that had been catched by the "Saw" that is looking for justice. Pretty short game with some beautiful soundtrack, I hope it was written specially for this game. Nice achievments and plot twist, everyone can obtain the ending he wants after all. Good luck and we still waiting for the next game))
Cold Verdict is a short visual novel about a group of strangers trying to escape from a killer's maze. It's reminiscent of the Saw movies, and mostly involves the characters piecing together why they are there. The story is easy to follow, involving a tragedy that happened in the past, and as you play, everyone's part is revealed. There are a good deal of choices throughout, and every character can live or die, so I appreciated that choices matter in that respect. As a visual novel, the writing is decent and every character felt unique and had their own personality. The music is very good and immersive; dark ambient tracks that build suspense. Each track was great and really fit the mood. As someone not really into the gore, torture, etc., that the Saw movies are known for, I can appreciate that Cold Verdict isn't gratuitous in that respect, but I think this will disappoint people looking for a bloodier, grittier experience. Overall, I enjoyed the game. It was a nice way to spend 4...
Finished it in under an hour, so this game was short but sweet! It presented an interesting story, and a fair number of choices. And was that a sequel tease at the end? I'll be certainly keeping an eye out!
This a simple visual novel that has choices. I was able to play through all the achievements in less than hour. What pleased me is that the most rewarding ending (for me) is how I played through the first time; the story lines up with my morals and how i would handle it. The tease at the end for a second part... yes! This style is easy to play and relaxing even with a tough subject. Graphics are great, there's no voice acting and you can fly through it or go slow. I wish there were more choices, maybe in the next one?
Very good thriller, well written characters, story and convos. Kind of Saw-like game, good stuff. Felt lazy to get all the achievements and didn't do it, basaically because there is no skip function. Claire and Leon? xDDDD edit: this game needs a skip button, all Renpy based games should have one. That makes things faster if you need to do several playthroughs (achievements).
Interesting story with a lot of potential, however the characters felt more like stereotypes than people and the grammar was glaringly unpolished in many places. It's fine for a $4 game, but there's a lot to be improved upon here. It's got potential and I hope it can be reached if they ever make a sequel.
