Vegas Tales

Story/Plot: Vegas Tales is a game where the wealthy resort owner of the Bellflower Hotel is dying. He has no close heirs or friends to leave it to, and thus decides to leave it to a small group of people he either knew briefly or met by happenstance. He can't decide which one to go with, leaving it up to you to decide who is the most worthy. I will say I actually enjoyed the vast majority of the performances and cast but of course this is down to personal preference. Needless to say the first impression you get with most of the people actually hides an interesting veneer on most of the interviews if you have a little patience to sit through it. Visuals: The game is FMV which stands for Full Motion Video...basically, everything is recorded, and then you get a list of questions to explore the past of the possible heirs, and at the end you convince the owner who to go with. For better or worse, this game is very simplistic, easy to learn and short. You can get all dialogues on the first run if you follow the guide posted in the community section, and then watch all 3 other endings in different runs. You can view the whole content in about 2 hours. Once you watch all four endings, there is very little replay value. The story features crazy characters giving humorous responses. In this regard, it is more than a bit Dekkeresque. I mean, similar to the Doctor Dekker game. People getting interviewed on the same stage. If you familiar with the reference, picture Dr. Dekker, but after more than a few beers. If you are into FMV games that do not take themselves very seriously, this may be worth checking out. As a big fan of this kind of game, I do hope to see more titles coming from the developers. It was fun to listen to their stories. Some of them were rather funny, some unexpected. Replayability is low. And cutting the talking when you find an issue with a candidate is annoying (the rest of the options in talk menu disappear when you use the final one that uncovers the truth so you can miss listening to some answers). There is no option to skip watching videos in the second run (this is usually the major complaint in all FMV games, not sure why developers don't add skipping videos and history page where you can watch subtitles of the skipped fragment in case you skipped it by mistake). So even when developers suggest replaying the game to have different view on their answers after knowing their secret or to find more secrets it is too hard without an option to skip and feels like a waste of time. Length of the game is about 2 hours for a single playthrough. Overall I still recommend the game as I enjoyed it.

I only played 76 minutes because it crashed at a specific point so I couldn't actually play more. Reloading saves and such didn't fix it. I like the concept but I can't recommend it if I literally can't play it.

The four potential owners each have fun stories to tell, each with a bit of a twist in their claim to own the hotel. I was very surprised by a couple of them. The scenes were well acted, with engaging performances which drew you into the snapshots of the lives you're confronted with. The game doesn't have much in the way of replay value, beyond getting the achievements, but for a game that can be completed in a few hours, it was an enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend it.

This game is extremely well written and funny. It takes only 2-3 hours to play through. There's a few technical issues where some of the footage will skip for half a second during play, typos in the subtitles and the like, and it's very linear aside from choosing your ending, but none of that really matters. This game should be treated like a movie, and you're just buying a DVD. The cast are all professional and prolific actors and do a great job. It's clear that if this game had any budget it was spent on buying their time. If you're a fan of internet comedy at all, this game is for you. It might be for you even if you're not.

This is a fun game. The script is hilarious and all of the actors do a good job. It would have been nice to convince the guy that the player would be a great person to give the money to but that's my only complaint. I'd like to see more FMV games like this from the developer. Great job all around.

Surprisingly funny stuff. There's no challenge whatsoever. You just listen to the people answer to your questions. The answers are relatively short so it doesn't become tedious, and a lot of the answers are honestly surprising and funny. Mallory, "the unlucky woman", was the funniest one. The couple Becca and Todd is a close second. As I said, there's no challenge, so while the characters answering to questions give you new questions and you are free to choose the order you ask the questions, nothing really has an effect on anything. The only thing that you can miss is that if you ask the question that makes the final reveal / plot twist happen, then the interview is over and you don't get to ask the questions you hadn't already asked. Trying to get them give all the answers to all questions, and making the absolute final choice (four options), is something that might get you go through the game again.
