Edit: The developer has read this review and made changes to improve upon the issues noted here. Please read more current reviews for an updated take on the current state of the game. This game starts off promising! It looks and sounds great. Unfortunately, after the first 15 minutes the game makes some very frustrating design decisions and it becomes very tedious. Here is the game play loop: Walk for 10 minutes while being chased, stumble upon a puzzle that you won't understand, die, wait 30 seconds before you can try again, walk for another 7 minutes because now you know the way, stumble upon the puzzle, pray that you don't die, die, and you keep doing that until you figure it out. There is a sprint mechanic in this game but it is removed from certain levels for inexplicable reasons. Eventually it became too much of a chore so I decided not to punish myself anymore. Sorry Dev, I really wanted to enjoy this one. If you'd like to see my experience, you can check it out here: http...

This game is.... ok. I have some narrative issues with it, but that's entirely a matter of taste. I want to stress that this game is, music aside, a one-man show, and I feel it deserves a lot of credit for what it is, given that fact. There are parts of the game that are sloppy, and poorly communicated, and half-baked. There are physics puzzles in the game when the physics side of things is not really implemented super well and a little clumsy, and there are a few puzzles where the answer is not unobtainable, but I'm just confused as to how they came to that conclusion. There are also some issues involving symbolism and mechanics, but that would be delving into spoiler territory. Though, the game DOES end on a "To Be Continued" and honestly, I don't think that's warranted, unless the dev plans on coming at this from a totally different angle. The story, such as it is, is perfectly serviceable and self-contained. Is the game fantastic? No. It's a clunky, messy, thing wit...
This game made me more afraid of spiders and crystals now. The art style and aesthetic is perfect nod to play station horror that I crave. The music and the amazing sound effects just make your skin crawl. Honestly great start can't wait to see more.
This game describes itself as an atmospheric first-person horror adventure, and let me tell you, you're in for a hell of a ride! Buckle up, and let your mind wander in this liminal universe where dreams are real and reality is nothing but a distant mirage. Or is it, really?
I have played the first dream so far and it is fun. Very surreal. Had a bit of trouble with the mechanics at first but it got easier as time went on. The pixel graphics are nicely done. It wasn't as spooky as I hoped but there are still other dreams to explore so perhaps it will get scarier. Take a look at my dream 1 playthrough here: https://youtu.be/XsLn5o5aDdk
A game with atmosphere out the wazoo. Each of the three levels in chapter 1 feel very different from each other. The difficulty curve is a bit lopsided with level 1 being the hardest in the game by far. Despite having seen a video of level 1 before playing it myself it was the only level that I died on (and did so several times) not counting one death from falling down a bottomless pit =P I'll be updating the review once chapter 2 is out to sum up the full experience.
Fantastic game, very well crafted atmosphere enhanced by haunting pixel graphic visuals. Brilliant music and sound design. All together is a very solid package and a very satisfying horror experience.
Despite focusing too much on chasing sequences, Araignees manages to deliver a horror experience that will make your skin crawl. The combination of the ps1 style graphics and outstanding music and sound design will immerse you in a truly retro horror experience. I highly recommend this game! I really like this game, haven't finished it yet 'cause of the lack of time that I have but the ambiance of the game is really great and the graphics are too, if you enjoy pixel art and horror games, it's a perfect match. It's not an easy indie game that you will go through in 30min, the story is great and I really enjoy playing it. It's the creator's first game so there might be some bugs here and there but overall, it's still really playable and you can still find your ways to go further. Have fun :)
this was fucking horrible in the best way possible
