Honestly a pretty decently fun game to play in co-op. The humor is incredibly corny and (in my opinion) quite dated. It's a typical cocky-hero-wannabe-saves-the-day story with an infinite amount of fetch quests to keep you busy. There's not a lot of substance, but if you're looking for something to play which doesn't require too much brain power, this is it.
While Deathspank is not exactly a masterpiece in gameplay, the art style and writing are top tier as expected of a project that Ron Gilbert led alongside Clayton Kauzlaric. It is as it was pitched, "Monkey Island meets Diablo." If that doesn't sound like that would be a mix of influences to your liking, well... I feel sad for you. But fair enough. Oddly enough it feels as though the namesake entry of the Thong Trilogy shows some influences that went right back into Monkey Island with Return to Monkey Island. as I come back to replay Deathspank. As for any complaints, you will eventually tune out or turn off the in-game music because of the combat tracks. And the power scaling will lean playerside a majority of the time, with the occasional enemy type that you *have* to block or hit-and-run to not tear through resources.
