About This Game

Choose your hero. Choose your companion. Choose your cards.
Dive into Oresa and face its many perils in fast-paced missions.

Beneath Oresa is a fighting roguelike deckbuilder. Deep within the city, confront your foes in real tactical arenas. As a strategist, choose your cards, upgrades, and artifacts wisely, but as a fighter, keep your distances with your foes, engage them at the right moment and turn their positioning to your advantage. With several factions, many heroes with unique abilities, daily missions, unique game mechanics and more, this furious combination of roguelike and tactics elements will lead you deep beneath Oresa.

Each time you dive into the depths, you choose a second hero to accompany you. As a companion, each hero brings eight unique powers. With dozens of possible duos you can develop your own playstyle or try improbable duos.
Do you need an expert against boss fights or a proto-blacksmith that enhances your card upgrades?

Position on the battlefield has never been more important! Line up enemies for super attacks, move to a different zone to avoid being hit, or position enemies to knock into each other.

Cards don’t just get better. Each card upgrade comes with a difficult strategic choice between two upgrades. Choose wisely, depending on your deck and playstyle.

A powerful bonus but only for the round? Or the same bonus but for the whole fight? Two different paths...

This game rules for sure. Solid 8/10 for me. I dont much care for not being able to skip card rewards but you can work around it with a few removal options. I think the main thing this game suffers from is a lack of content. THAT and the gunslinger classes seem very under powered compared to everyone else. The other classes are so incredibly fun to play as though. The animations for combat and graphics are quite immersive and bring a very real feel to every puch and kick and block delivered. 8/10 for sure. Would love to see a sequel with some more content and maybe even some workshop mods or a multiplayer similar to Together in Spire.

The balance in this game is beyond stupid. 13 hours in and I have not won once because Level 3 Is Busted. I just lost a run where I was doing very well with Flynn (gun dude with the badass wing arm) only to run into a mini boss with 600 HEALTH that does 100 damage and then 60 damage every other turn. You get three weak action points against an onslaughts of broken enemies that do 60 damage every turn. They either need to buff defense cards, or scale the level 3 enemies damage down by like 25%. Also being forced to having to choose cards in your deck is a dumb mechanic. Never in a deck building game where there are so many bloat cards that basically do nothing. Or ruin the synergy in your deck. My best run so far was with Sora I had about blue 7 action points with a great virus deck only to come across the final boss that was basically three enemies with 300 health each doing 50 damage every turn. Also the SWORD faction characters are complete garbage with the worst cards ive ever s...

Beneath Oresa is a deckbuilding roguelike that borrows a lot of fundamentals from games like Slay the Spire. It's different enough both in setting and design choices to make playing it worthwhile, but close enough that it's difficult to talk about one without talking about the other. But I enjoyed it thoroughly. The main way that Beneath Oresa differs from Slay the Spire is how it handles character class. In Slay the Spire, you're given a few very broad classes and are left to develop their specificity through your run, while in Beneath Oresa a lot of that specificity is built in to the character you select. There is a narrower pool of cards and artifacts to draw from, but they are expressed differently and find different synergies based on the character you select. As well, there's a secondary companion character selection with their own progression that affects how your run progresses. I found exploring how all of these mechanics fit together interesting and it was rewarding each ...

I highly recommend you give this game a try! The art is engrossing and captivating, with a dynamic cel-shaded feel. I really appreciated that the combat is based on your careful choices, NOT button mashing QTEs. Little stories evolve as your characters grow, and there are ENDLESS combinations of main and support character builds you could do. Every character prompts you to adopt and perfect a new element of the combat system. I had a lot of fun progressing through multiple runs to get unlocks for upgrades, new characters, and modifiers on runs. Worth a purchase, especially during a sale!
