About This Game

"A snowy VR counterpart to Firewatch" - 4players.de

In this exploration adventure on skis you take a well-deserved time out. After everything that happened recently, you figure you really need to take a break and get away from it all. You sign up for a volunteer job with the Snow Scouts, a non-profit organisation that runs some ski resorts high in the mountains. You will be responsible for fixing up an entire valley all by yourself, only being guided by your supervisor via radio. You'll try out and open all the different ski slopes, test the snow cover for any avalanche risk, and if need be, set off a calculated avalanche to ensure safety for others. You'll even come across some rare alpine birds, get a chance to open new paths and get to know your supervisor - and maybe even yourself - a little better through radio conversations. Up here in this pristine mountain environment, with you all alone in nature, nothing can go wrong. Or can it?

FEATURES:

 • Move through a remote alpine valley using an immersive skiing simulation in virtual reality
 • Descent-style skiing as well as cross-country skiing
 • Play in sportsy standing mode and burn up to 400 calories an hour (according to YUR.fit Steam integration) or try the new, relaxed seated mode
 • Complete adventure and job-simulator like tasks based on real-life ski patrols
 • Ride 21 different ski slopes and compete in their online leaderboards
 • Build a relationship with your handler, whom you communicate with via radio
 • Engage in several kinds of optional side tasks
 • Relax in your ski hut after a hard day of work
 • Collect a variety of different Steam achievements
 • Over 2 hours of recorded dialogue, with more to come
 • Contains an unreleased 50-minute documentary about the Serengeti in Africa
Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my full review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/mwuhIg261j0 I wish I could highly recommend Snow Scout. There is a lot about this game that I enjoyed. However, I ran across multiple issues while playing this game and that is the reason for my score. However, there was an update to the game while I was near the end, so that may have fixed some of the issues. Even after the update though, I still fell off the map (and died) several times. Snow Scout is a narrative-driven game. It's very reminiscent of Firewatch, because you're also using a walkie / talkie to communicate with a female protagonist, Veronica aka Vreni. Vreni is easily the highlight of this game. She's very likeable, wholesome, and I dare say it's almost impossible to play this game until completion and not get at least a little crush on her. She's just always so upbeat & well, she's your only voice during the vast majority of the game. The voice actress who did her c...

Snow Scout is early access right now but shows a lot of promise to being something really great the story of the game is that you play a person who has taken to working the ski hills to escape his personal issues, on your journey you are guided by another snow scout by the name of Vreni who talks to you over the radio, there is where the bulk of the narrative is told and so far its an interesting story while playing I though it drew a lot of comparisons to Firewatch the writing for this character is fun and feels like a character with some good depth. dialogue at the moment can be quite buggy as performing actions too quickly can cut off or skip instructions. The gameplay at the moment is simple but enjoyable in a chill sort of way, and it's all physics-driven, the main gameplay mechanic is skiing it takes s bit to get the hang of and can be a bit tricky but in the more open areas is fun when you can get up to speed. in addition, there are also other little activities like Snow shov...

‘Snow Scout’ is a ski based adventure game in which you are told to open up a ski resort by clearing the paths and making sure the race courses are OK to use. While the game isn’t going to blow anyone away it does just enough to be worth the download. It did take me a little while to get used to the asking mechanics and it is a little janky, to say the least, but I was able to get through most of the game without issue. I do wish the game was a little cheaper than it currently is, but having said that there is still enough content to keep you going for a good few hours so I do give it the thumbs up. If ‘MEH’ was a rating, this game would get it. Do check out my gameplay video in which a nasty glitch made the key vanish so I couldn't get into the hut at the start of the game, thus I couldn't progress any further. However, I did restart the game and left the key in the lock where I should have left it and sure enough, it remained there for me to use - https://youtu.be/aS6ZG5w...

Ski controls made me seriously motion sick with its "smooth" turning. I've been playing VR games with all sorts of movement schemes for 4+ years now, haven't felt this bad in a very long time.

This is a really unique game that tries some new stuff in VR, which is very refreshing. As it says in the blurb, the game is somewhat reminiscent of Firewatch, in that you are afoot in nature and have a nice lady to talk to on the other end of your walkie-talkie. But here, you can even give your own yes/no/silence answers, instead of having to listen to some bloke talking. It's definitely an engaging experience, so far I'm about 3 hours in and as much as I gather, I finished about half the game. Can't wait to play more and find out what's next!

7/10 - Enjoyable 7 game days, and total 6-7 hours to finish. It'll take an 'hour or so' to get useto the skiing mechanics. but by the 3rd day (or 3 hours) in game, you'll be having fun. the Good, Nice voice over, clean visuals, You'll get a quite work out, and enjoy it, once u get used to it. nice surprise at the end, make sure mic is 'on' in VR headset. the Bad, Slow load at 'first' game start (night sky snow falling screen, may think game halted, broke) Changing graphics setting bugged, anything above 'medium' gets texture corrupted. the Ugly, Still has bugs, but none game destroying. first avalanche dig site, fall in through. Voice transmission cut off, mix, answer bugs. Axe kept going missing. Enjoyed in Quest 3 w/ VD streamer A Surprise find, Worth it at Sale price.

I'm really enjoying this. The atmosphere is really good and it runs well for me. I love the skiing controls. It works really well and I feel like I'm skiing! Wheeeeee! I turned on all the comfort options and they're great - they work for me. I was amazed how long I could ski for without feeling ill so it must be working because normally the slightest bit of movement gives me vr sickness but I can play this for longer than other games. I love the character on the other end of the walkie talkie - really good voice acting that can go from funny to sadness easily and very believably. Having them along to help unravel the story is perfect for VR and I'm a big fan of this! I can't wait to play more. I spent a lot of time just skiing around to start with. It took me a little bit to figure out how to get up hills, but once I started making bigger gestures with my arms it worked out. Or, more like, *I* worked out! This is great exercise! Really glad I picked this game up. It's awesome and I...
