pretty fun. only thing that throws me off is the error progression. instead of progressing with an error, you MUST type the letter and backspace doesn't work. this mechanic is completely different than other typing tests, because it means you can get hung up on a letter which takes some getting used to. hopefully in the future you can customize your match settings a bit more. also as a suggestion, it would be nice to customize the hotkeys for launching your powerups. looking forward to seeing the updates in the future!

Played for about 15 minutes and I like its concept but I find it on some degree inaccessible (though, this is largely an inconvenience really). Before I get into that, I still would recommend this game. It looks really fun and honestly, great for getting that typing practice in if you've nothing to do for five minutes. It's worth the less than £5 it costs. My main issue is namely with the powers aspect, they became incredibly overwhelming immediately as soon as they come into play. Whilst yeah, you can leave a match before it starts if it has powers enabled and play a game without them, it's the re-doing matches till you get the one you want that is tedious. I think the power ups are cool and an interesting thing, it just doesn't work for me. Another issue I have is the fact the game "yells" at you when you have capslock enabled which again, I found incredibly overwhelming immediately.
Currently I would say pass on this one, even if you're a big keymash or monkeytype fan. I am a huge fan of monkeytype/keymash/typeracer and this app feels.. I dunno... half baked? Strange handling of typos - You are forced to type out a letter you misstype, instead of just allowing you to mistype a word, unlike every other typing game. Every time you mistype a letter, it speeds up the scroll rate of the text, putting you closer to a "typeout"... but this breaks the flow of the game, imo. Why not (like every other typing game) allow someone to typo a word (strategically even) and give a cumulative penalty for the whole word? The way it is now.. isn't fun. It feels like an interruption. Poor implementation of powerups- There is no way to choose whether you play with power ups on or off. It is randomly chosen for you as a lobby is opened. I'm not explicity against powerups, but in this case it reminds me of attacking in Tetris 99... which is too rng (it appears to randomly select on...
It's NovelKeys, so they get my money. Also they made a nice typing game. Win Win
First impressions are as follows: - NovelKeys. Enough said. - Unity engine. Solid choice. - UI. Easy to navigate and pleasing to the eye. - Competitive typing. Great idea. - Loadouts/Powers. Chaotic and overwhelming. Is there a way to turn this setting off? All-in-all I think this game is a great idea and I'm personally excited where all it goes. I think it's off to a great start, I'm just eager to more game modes to be introduced (namely something more simple and traditional, but still competitive).
Latency of typing test is so bad that this is unplayable for me. Im using 2015 Macbook Pro.
A lot of potential with this game. I enjoy monkeytype, so I was pretty hyped to try this. They did add in the ability to type through errors as it was a feature people were saying it was missing. However, I wished there were more options for practicing and warming up. Tried messing with the settings, but hope there's more updates on it in the future. Also couldn't really find players to play with, but that's no big deal since I assume as the game's player base grows, it won't be an issue. Looking forward to what Novelkeys will bring to the table. While lacking in it's current state, I want it to do well, so I do recommend people to give a look at its early access price if they are remotely interested. PS. Also hoping to see more theme options like Darling. Also some of the achievements are bugged, ended up getting a whole bunch after the tutorial when I shouldn't have
Thought this would be better than Monkeytype but it's not. No multiplayer, settings randomized, annoying powerups, words scramble when you mess up one letter.
TypeOut has the potential to be a great typing game. I would recommend TypeOut to anyone that is looking to "gamify" their typing. Gameplay Summary: Gameplay is a lot of fun. My fingers/hands/forearms tired out before I could get bored of the game. The idea of loadouts and powerups can be a bit hectic, but adds a fun competitive aspect aside from just type speed. Also the game does have modes without powerups if you want a pure typing experience without the interruptions. I assume that they'll add more game modes which I'm looking towards. Gameplay Notes: - Typing is like NitroType. No backspace, just type until you get it right. - PowerUps can be difficult to work into typing. Just have to get used to it. - Tracking others progress isn't on my radar at all. Not sure if it's just me, but I found it difficult. - Unlocking color schemes and loadout powerups is fun. Hope they add more. - Text can be..text, normal words, and gibberish (with normal words). General Feeback: - Tutorial wa...
It's pretty fun. Looking forward to future updates. Powerups makes things interesting. Wished the text didn't scroll up when typing. Kinda throws me off. But other than that, it's 5 bucks well spent.
