About This Game

the successor game『BOKURA: planet』

About the Game

Are you and I really seeing the world the same way?

An exclusively two-player puzzle adventure game that makes you question your reality.

*Players must communicate with each other to play this game. If you are not playing in the same location, you will need another communication method, such as voice chat. Before buying the game, please keep in mind that the game itself does not provide a separate communication method.

BOKURA is a puzzle adventure game that can only be played with two players. To play the game, two people must play on two separate machines.

While you have to work together, what you see on your game screens is completely different.

Even though the same character should be displayed on both of your screens, to one of you, they might look like an animal out of a picture book, while to the other, they might look like a robot. (The objects you can interact with might move differently for each of you too!)

You will need to talk to each other to find out what you can and cannot see. Work together to solve the puzzles and continue your journey.

You can play online in different locations while talking to each other over a call.

Player 1: A world of animals

Player 2: A world of machines

Gameplay

The game is a side-scrolling co-op puzzle adventure. You will be faced with a number of critical choices throughout the story which will lead your journey in different directions.

You Can't Play Alone

A unique feature of this game is that you cannot play it alone. You cannot play it singleplayer or with a computer as player two. It can only be played with two people—no more, no less.

As such, the very first choice you make in this game takes place before you even start: Who should I play this game with?

The total gameplay time is around three to four hours. While you play, you and the other player will need to talk to each other to understand what is happening, solve problems, and make important decisions together.

Story

Two boys who run away from home encounter a dead deer. The sight of it causes them to faint, but when they wake up, the worlds they see are no longer the same.

One of them sees a world of animals, while the other sees a world of machines. Will the boys be able to find out what has happened to them and return to the world they used to be in?

Creator Comment

Have you ever wondered if the world you see is the same as the world everyone else sees?

BOKURA is a game about two boys whose worlds are no longer the same as everyone else's. When you play, you'll find that what you and the other player see are not the same either. I hope you'll overcome the differences in how you see the world and relive the friendship of your childhood through the story of these two boys.

I played this game with my best friend, and we really enjoyed it. From the gameplay and mechanics to the background music, everything is excellent. The story, which at first seemed ordinary, turned out to be deep and touching. Lowkey, this game also changed my perspective on life. Highly recommended 9.5/10.

Very vague spoilers ahead To preface this review, we are an extremely avid gamer and we enjoy games of all shapes and sizes (/m), so it's fair to say that we've played our fair share of games. Out of the probable hundreds of games we've played, this game has EASILY earned its spot in the Top Ten tier list. As explained in the description to this game, it is made for two people, and only two people. No more, no less. Which we found intriguing as most games have a single player mode. This does not. And the game is better off because of it. Depending on the character you choose to play as, green coat/red scarf or blue coat/grey scarf, you will end up viewing an entirely different world from that of the other player. Although we technically knew this fact, we had forgotten it and just jumped into the game, and our friend also did not pay attention and so when we got to the point where the world changed into two different realities for us, we just assumed the other person just had some...

Perfect game to play with a partner. Def requires two playthroughs as choices matter. Lot of puzzles and obstacles to overcome but luckily game stages can be easily restarted once one of you dies and puzzles don´t take long to figure out. Worth the price as you get twice the playhours and quite refreshing next to other co-op games.

A short but very likeable story. From time to time it may feel like too much information is being said at once, but the game has a funny way of making those moments more real and understandable. It brings a very interesting narrative, mixing it with a very cute and colorful artstyle to shock (with the slightly gorey and more serious moments) and make the player reflect on what's being said and shown. The puzzles are also very well thought and some parts are sure to make you and your Player 2 get at least irritated at each other (in the funny way). I didn't know Bokura before and I'm glad my friend got me to buy and play it together. Good experience, and am gonna play again to get the other achievements!

Great game to play with someone else. This is a co-op game where each character has different abilities, so you have to work together and communicate to solve puzzles. We never encountered a puzzle that felt unfair or ridiculous, but we did have many that challenged our communication (in a good way!). We enjoyed it so much we played it twice, and switching characters is actually a different enough experience that it was nice to replay the game immediately again, bahaha. I never do that! There's also some hidden stuff if you replay the game with the same person that way... it's very cool. I can't believe how inexpensive this game is for what you get out of it. A great short game that I heavily recommend to anyone searching for their next co-op game.
