Rating: 8/10 Positives: - Variety of objectives/ things to do - Definitely scratches that Stardew valley like itch lol - Fun game play for sure - Great Graphics Negatives: - Lowkey wish the progression of the story was a bit more obvious. Maybe I'm just a bit of a idiot but at times I felt pretty lost playing the game thinking about what I had to do next. - No co-op available yet - Progression can slow down a bit at times Notes: I started to play this game when it was in early access and when I tell you how happy I was when I found out it was MacOs compatible, is an understatement lol. I have not had a chance to fully dive into the game yet but based on first impressions and the few hours I did play, its a pretty solid cooking/ restaurant management game. It's a healthy blend of forging, light combat and story.

Solid Early Access title. The story and characters are interesting, the game-play loop of hunting, fishing, farming, buying ingredients, mining, cooking mini games, restaurant management, and questing offers a nice variety of things to do. That being said it's not without fault. The current game contains many bugs, glitches, and some game-play mechanics that require a bit of TLC, which have been publicly addressed by the developer. I would say if you are on the fence and don't want to deal with some game-play bugs and glitches, wait until full release. That being said if you don't mind early access titles with some bugs/glitches, than Cheif RPG delivers a solid game experience in early access.
I REALLY wanted to like this game but man, there are so many problems. First off the game is very buggy in weird ways...If you hover over a foragable then your tool will work once then it will bug out and not work anymore. If you open your mail incorrectly it'll glitch and you can NEVER open it in your whole playthrough, Threads complained about this bug over 9 months ago and it is still not fixed. When you enter a new area you stop moving and have to repress the buttons to move again. Whenever you use a tool you get stuck in an animation lock that's boring and repetitive. - Repetitive tedious mini games you HAVE to do OVER AND OVER. - Crafting recipes is based on levelling NPC's and not tied to your skill levels. - No Crafting stations, You have to seek out an NPC to craft for you and if they're not working then good luck, you must wait until they're 'Working'. - You cant leave the restaurant during service even if its automated so you basically just AFK. - Progression is locked beh...
Hands... I need hands... WHERE ARE HANDS??
its a really fun game a lot to it already for a early access game. Im even more impressed it was made by 1 person XD
The game is trying to be more than it is. While pretty, its loop is painful sometimes. You either want a farming simulator, a restaurant simulator, a hunting simulator, or a life simulator. I don't care for the characters, and so far I was able to ignore them outside of needing to buy ingredients from them. I love the concept, but in terms of a restaurant simulator, it's just not there at all. If you want a better one, honestly Traveller's Rest is still a better game in the same genre.
I've been enjoying the heck out of this game. I love the look, the number of recipes, and being able to buy or gather ingredients. The whole thing is very relaxing. Very thankful for the auto cook function. Playing the mini games can be fun, but they do get pretty repetitive over the course of a shift. Would like a few more side quests and such to further flesh out the NPCs around town, but it's not a big issue. I just like the the little town of White Ash Harbor so much I'd love for it to feel a just a bit more alive.
it's the cooking game i've always hoped for, and it holds its own in the cosy farm sim genre with a unique flair
Pretty great so far and seems very promising for an early access game. I think it's missing a few elements, and maybe a few things need to be tweaked like story pacing, ability to get currency (power cells) is too difficult, and other stuff, but it sounds like devs already working on it!
Even in Early Access it's a fun game with a lot of content. It looks beautiful and while the cooking minigames do get repetitive after a while, there's way more stuff to do so I didn't get bored.
