Sonic Origins is a highly controversial game for a good reason. It took down the other classic versions of Sonic games from Steam so this one would sell and they couldn’t get the licensing for the old music people loved so dearly. Even still, there’s much better versions of these games out there and on Steam I’d rather recommend Sonic Mania instead of this game.

Sonic Origins is a compilation that attempts to celebrate the legacy of Sega's iconic blue hedgehog by bringing together four of his earliest and most influential 2D adventures: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. These games represent the foundation of one of gaming’s most enduring franchises, and with Sonic Origins, Sega offers both longtime fans and new players an updated way to experience these classics. The collection aims to strike a balance between preserving the nostalgic magic of the originals and modernizing them just enough to feel fluid on today’s hardware. The most notable improvement in Sonic Origins is the implementation of widescreen support across all four titles, which has a dramatic impact on the overall experience. Being able to see more of the level at once improves reaction time, enhances the sense of speed, and makes the games feel less constrained. Additionally, the games run at a smooth 60 frames per sec...

Definitely grab on sale, but this is still a great way to play the classic 90s Sonic games, even with the Game Gear expansion, Plus. Had no issues and was a seamless port. As for my opinion of the games themselves, they're meh. Never been a Sonic fan, but these early games are classics that all gamers should at least give a go.

Terrible controls, terrible instructions, annoying music, limited explanations of keyboard functions. This is poorly imagined for keyboard and mouse. Can I get a REFUND PLEASE?

terrible hitbox, like omg. fuck this shit. Too much bs in this shitty as sonic game. Sonic can take his small blue penis and shove it up eggmanns huge butt where they can fuck for all eternity and make small hedgehog egg babies. the sonic movies is miles clear of this shitty game, sonic 1 hope your whole family dies in a plane crash. Sonic is the most gay hedgehog i have ever seen. 2/10

Honestly just getting to play Sonic 3 and Knuckles is worth it. The challenges are a bit easy, but fun, the boss rush is cool, and Amy is a nice addition. Not a perfect game by any means, but if you like the originals this shouldn't be a disappointment or anything.

A pretty good solid collection for the classic Sonic games and in my opinion the best way to play the classic games with widescreen support. Of course the elephant in the room is Sonic 3 and Knuckles music...it's...ok for what it is, it could be a lot better like A LOT better but I guess we'll never know why the music is the big reason why we haven't seen a port of Sonic 3&K in a long time...what did Michael Jackson know?...But other than that it's good collection, I recommend getting all the add ons that comes with Plus for the best experience and getting the most out of the game. Honestly the only bad things I could say about this collection is that it should've launched with those Plus add ons by default and I don't know what's up with the audio with the Game Gear games but they sound awful and loud...don't wear headphones if you play one of those games. Overall good and solid collection, I say play it if you want the best way to play the classic games...but seriously why couldn't w...

The second thing Sonic did in any relation to robotnik is save AN ENTIRE PLANET. Also, as for my review: get origins plus. The plus expansion is content that was missing in the game that sega decided to charge an additional ten dollars to give us. Without the plus expansion the game is incomplete. Otherwise, the remaster's great, for the most part.
