While you debate the ethics of taking someone’s pictures using military-grade hacking software, you soon realize there’s bigger things at work. It seems every friend you have is hiding something life or death important. And then you discover a secret message board where someone is trying to hire a hitman.

Does this go straight to the top? Only you’re in the position to find out and save your friends at the same time.

Mystery, intrigue, and girls to romance and seduce are waiting for you in Shale Hill Secrets. Come with us and play the first four episodes of the game while the full version is still in development.

Your Love Life

While unraveling what is going on in Shale Hill, you’ll interact with girls that have their own mysteries.

Your friendship with them will grow and may even evolve into something else. It’s up to you: dedicate yourself to one person or be the player and spread the love around. It's your choice.

The people of Shale Hill

Leah

You have a special relationship with Leah, who has been supportive of you your entire life. Gentle on the outside, but unflinching and spirited within, she is a stubborn journalism student who will do anything to reveal to the world the dark truth of Shale Hill.

Sam

You and Sam came from opposite ends of your old school’s pecking order, and now, by a twist of fate, your best friend. Your quirky, distractible friend seems uncharacteristically melancholy. What is going on?

Emily

Objectivity and a total focus on success are the main characteristics of Emily. She isn't afraid to make tough decisions, even if this means messing up her relationships with other people. You’d know. You’re her ex.

Valerie

Valerie, Student Council President in college as well as your old high school, still considers you her protege even after you gave it all up. She seems to have a great deal of faith in you, though you can never tell whether she’s joking or flirting.

Haley

Blue hair that shows an adorable defiance. That’s Haley, a lovely bartender who has dreams way bigger than being behind a counter for the rest of her life. She has a good ear for others' problems but no taste for sharing her own.

Maggie

Maggie prefers dealing with animals to people, but over time, she has come to trust you. Now, this pretty redhead will need to deal with a past that has left her nervous and silent.

Lidia

The impeccable and refined owner of the campus café, Lidia is a well travelled connoisseur of everything that can be roasted and brewed. But in her travels, she’s brought problems back with her.

Alexis

As Shale Hill’s resident mean girl, Alexis takes her popularity for granted, but she’s not as simple as she seems. Alexis also considers herself an entrepreneur and seems undeterred that her business of choice is highly unethical.

Linus

Your colleague and workmate, Linus can be both a comrade and an annoying smug asshole, usually both at the same time. He’s an unrepentant geek and much more comfortable in the tech world than you are.

Dante

Dante is the ultimate paradoxical Bohemian. A weird mix of party freak and dependable role model, he’s a hard man to describe, and you don’t really know him unless you meet him. He dispenses cocktails and wisdom with equal flare, and has his ear to the ground in Shale Hill’s party scene.

Toasterman

Homeless man or superhero? The answer depends on whether you ask him or anyone else. One thing is for sure, he does have detective instincts that you don’t have. It’s wise to listen to what he has to say.

This game is something else. Great story well developed. Compared to other AVNs is long, and the story keeps evolving and becoming more and more intriguing. Usually I like AVNs to have a well balance (50/50) between the story and "+18 moments" because if not it feels slow or disappointing to the genre, this one is a 70/30 (Story/18+). However the story is so good that it didn't matter at all, because it also made each adult scene feel very special/rewarding.

This was... a heck of a story. I didn't want it to end. A very few typos. The characters -- you'll struggle not to like all of them, apart for the ones who are clearly the bad guys, naturally. 11/10, would buy again.

Definitely worth reading. This has a really good story with well written characters. Like others have said the game does have a lot of dialogue but I think the reason for it was that the developer wanted to be very descriptive with the characters and story and they nailed it. There's a good amount of scenes but I feel like this is more story focused. The render style for the characters are also very good and look different from other visual novels. Overall I enjoyed reading it and getting to know all of the characters, Valerie was my favorite. If your into good stories I highly recommend this one.

Oh boy, 60 hours in and only the final episode left. I can feel the looming absence of this game approaching, and don't want it to end. I've spent too much time with these characters. This is a very well crafted story. There is a lot to read - but pay attention: The story can throw a lot of WTF moments at you, but are subtly telegraphed beforehand (20/20 hindsight). I only guessed a couple in advance. Character development is masterful. I felt that I cared about their fates. Not that that stopped my MC taking every opportunity with all the girls in the story - this isn't a dating sim, so no rivalries to manage. Story is a broken MC finds broken girls to fixe, while uncovering a conspiracy responsible for breaking them. There are a few typos in the text - but rare for this size of a story; and only one small plot gap - which if this was a film, would be due to editing. Lewd scenes are quite plentiful after the opening episode. All are opt in, but I wouldn't want to hurt their feel...

AVNs are the gaming equivalent of late 20th Century XXX cinema: Superficial plots in which secks scenes are minimally wrapped. This game (as with “Acting Lessons”) is a peanut in the AVN pile of crap. Yes, it’s not Game of Thrones quality but similar in that this game’s story starts slow and progressively adds a cast of interesting characters (with depth and substories which take their time to play out) that become intertwined in the ever-widening story arc. Be prepared: there’s a lot of text; but it’s a good thing. You want to know more. And story branches appear to matter. Also, choosing not to go “all the way” with someone does feel just as satisfying in the context of the story. While some may have cracked the achievement in college, nailing every female friend and acquaintance in a group (without causing disruptive drama) breaks the verisimilitude. The supporting characters are fun, with the mystery of Hank, camaraderie of Linus, flamboyance of Dante, and weirdness...

I love the in depth story in this game and the choices are good. I'm very interested to see the end and it's a long game, much longer than most visual novels.

Like many have already said, this is quite a text heavy game. Plot itself is quite intriguing and during the game I suspeceted everyone to be some kind of betrayer at some point, so I was really interested how the story was going to unravel in the end. There was some minor anomalies along the way but nothing major in any sense. And to be honest, it's more than possible that I just missed something in that barrage of text. First part of the game you mostly just build your relationship with the other characters so the plot itself doesn't really advance that much. After that the story flows very nicely towards the end. ***SPOILER!**SPOILER!**SPOILER!*** Choices, choices.. All those choices... Well, the choices affect to your relationship with the ladies and that's it. They don't change the outcome of the main story in any noticeably way. At least I haven't come up with any. And there's no need to trouble your head how to get the girls. You just decide which ones you're interested and th...

This is an interactive novel with the occasional sex scene told from a first person perspective. The story is pretty engaging and puts your detective skills to the test. If you're expecting constant pornography flooding across your screen then you'll be disappointed. The story is definitely quite long.
