[b]PROS:[/b] + cute art style + nice soundtrack + great on the Steam Deck [b]CONS:[/b] - choices do not matter - gameplay does not matter - simplistic lengthy conversations - useless inventory [b]Comment:[/b] A warning right before the main menu gave me an uneasy feeling, followed by another suspicious quote when starting the game. I was thinking this game would make some hard choices. Buuuut... that didn't happen. Over the story there are four doors to choose from and each one contains two paths. The theme is that your time is limited and you cannot do everything. Only a couple things each playthrough. Gameplay itself is super limited to a couple of mini games and one fight. More walking around and talking than anything else. If you do end up playing I recommend going to the settings and putting 'Text speed' to 'Instant'. It does not fully negate the weird conversation flow but at least it negates it a slight bit. Developer also let's you skip the intro or the seasonal quests, if ...

[h3][b]Good Deeds.[/b][/h3][hr]To be honest, there’s not much going on with the gameplay. I get why some people didn’t like it, mostly just pressing a button or the spacebar. Hello Goodboy feels more like a children’s storybook come to life, which actually makes it great for playing with kids or just chilling on your own. The pacing is slow, the story is pretty straightforward, but I still enjoyed it. It’s the kind of game you can play while lying down and taking it easy. [i]But I can't say this game is a 'yes' or 'no' for you, it really depends on what you’re looking for.[/i] The story follows Iiko and his yellow dog, Coco, on a wholesome journey where they meet different souls, each with their own story and something they need help with. You can’t help everyone in one playthrough because there’s a time limit, so your choices matter. Finish it once and you get a good ending—play it again in New Game+ to unlock the true ending. Hello Goodboy really impressed me. I had low expectations going in, and I have to say now that it was one of my favorite games of 2025. This is a baby spiritfarer. Aesthetics~~* The art is incredible, the music pleasant. I loved the seasons and their separate vibes. Additionally, the light and dark images of the Wolf and Coco was super elegantly done. I liked the duality and the way that anxiety/fear/sadness/grief are explored and juxtaposed to connection/friendship/openness/vulnerability. Accessibility~~* My kid played this game and it was slow and deliberate and sweet enough that she was not only interested in playing but also engaging with the deeper themes of the story. The challenges in the game weren't effortless, but it was a soft game that didn't penalize. It was soothing and calming, a game that was 0% tense.
