About This Game

What to expect...

The Early Access version of Civatlas has core gameplay mechanics that we plan to expand upon. Included in the game:

Open Your Atlas

Map nerds, rejoice! Civatlas is a game inspired by those iconic lithographic bird’s eye view maps of the Renaissance era created by legendary cartographers including John Speed, Georg Braun and Frans Hogenberg.

Generate a Vast Landscape

Procedural continental landscapes are formed by plate tectonics. Select and build upon 16km^2 map tiles.

Select a Culture

Your Culture choice will affect your World’s name with geographic toponyms and affect the names of your Civvies, based upon the primary language of the Culture selected. This feature will be expanded with more global cultures, biomes and architectural styles!

Plot Your Grid

From humble medieval hamlets to bustling Renaissance cities. Unique ‘Plot’ mechanics parcel your landscape in any way desired. Assign these plots a purpose to discover more upgrades and decorations that lead to unique creations. Civatlas is a game about the freedom to build without the pressures to survive. Escape into a thriving world of your own creation!

Produce Resources

Over 100 resources of various types, from mud to money! Resources are essential for construction and Civvie happiness.

Progression Tree

Grow from a humble hamlet into a thriving Town. Choose the progression path along purposeful branches: Labor, Law, Faith, Arts and Trade. Uncover architectural history from the early Middle Ages through the early Modern era!

New features coming in Early Access and beyond!

Every Plot Tells a Story

Civvies will bring your maps to life as they move about their Boros and complete their daily tasks. Follow the different narratives of your plots as Civvies move in, live, pass on, give birth, learn, and grow through the seven ages of man, as defined by Shakespeare, and not necessarily in that order.

Connections Matter

Neighbouring plots will provide bonuses such as production rates or happiness for your Civvies, depending on building type or plot purpose.

Multiple Cities

Create a new Atlas and build on other tiles of your generated World. Establish trade routes and chart the growth of your new nation-state!

Historical Expansion

Expand the cultural content across space and time. From feudal Japan to ancient Rome, we plan to add even more cultures, biomes and architectural styles.

Not recommended at its current state. Although i like the concept, the game is not really playable because of bugs and lag. Instead of being an early access game, it feels more like an alpha version. I Refunded it, but will definetly come back to take a look in a few months.

Reluctantly refunded. The concept is good but at the moment the implementation is terrible. Took forever to load and completely hung a few times during the tutorial. UI is unreadable and feels illogical. Graphics are cartoon like and OK if you like that sort of thing. Will come back in a month or two and see what progress has been made

Bloody bugfest straight from hell. Also overpriced for the horrible UI and graphics it has. Avoid by all means.

This program is riddled with bugs, lag, and graphical glitches—some so bad they require a Ctrl+Alt+Del to fix. If it were priced at $1.99, it might be worth considering (maybe), but I paid $20 for something that hasn’t seen an update in 22 months. Avoid it unless the developers decide to revive it—which seems unlikely.

Its a good game, but is still very early and definitely not worth 20 dollars at the moment.
