About This Game
In the Microbe Stage, you control a single microbe or a colony of microbes bound together. You swim through a watery environment to find the resources your cell needs to stay alive and to reproduce. Once you have reproduced, you enter the editor, where you can review how well your species and others are surviving, move to new biomes, and modify your species. Add new organelles, change your membrane, and change your cell's visuals. Your goal is to become a more complex lifeform by first evolving the nucleus to become a eukaryote, then using binding agents to form cell colonies, the precursor to the first multicellular lifeforms.
Current key features:
- Control an individual member of your species and survive the environment
- Predate on other species, use photosynsthesis or scavenge for resources
- Edit your species to make it more successful
- Compete with other species emerging on your planet via an evolution simulation
- Explore different biomes in procedurally generated maps
- Fight other cells with multiple cellular level weapons
- Try different gameplay styles by specializing in different energy sources in subsequent playthroughs
- Learn about biology by using real compounds, organelles or parts inspired by real science
- Spread your species via the biome map
- Review and plan future actions by looking at population simulation results and graphs
- Learn the basics of the game with a light, interactive tutorial
- Create experimental species in freebuild mode with removed editing limits

User Reviews
I love coming back to this game every once in a while. The microbe stage is truly addictive and if you were the kind of person who wished the cell stage of Spore would last longer, I highly recommend this. I can't wait to see where the future stages will go once the microbe stage is fully finished!
The controls are awful, the tutorial is basically not helpful, and it is not very intuitive. the fact that your movement is modified by your mouse position is awful. while I see potential it is no where near fun or even good.
spore but if it had an ounce of good in it
good for people who want a more realistic approach to spore
It's like a scientifically accurate Spore, and I LOVE it.
Unbelievably complicated.
very good and realistic game for the unicellular organisms phase, but then you get to multicellular organism phase, i havent played it much, but it just looks like the single celled phase if you couldnt add organelles, only repeats of your unicellular organism (i might be wrong about multicellular phase, i havent played it much, i could be right, but this game is in early access, it doesnt need to be flawless, the unicellular phase is good)
The gameplay of the game is enjoyable, but there is currently not much content available in the game. It is still in alpha or beta testing. The graphics are decent—neither bad nor outstanding. While the sound design is good, it lacks creativity. If you're interested in playing, you can purchase the game now or wait until it reaches beta.
Is Fun. Tutorials ought to be updated to explain in game content before players are confronted with it.
