I've had the pleasure to watch this game be developed and boi do I ducking love it. This is a Binding of Issac inspired roguelike where the catch is that you can only shoot left and right. It is challenging, fun and the game manages to make you feel like an actual heroin addict. 10/10 would press Q on the pause menu again P.S Levi if you're reading this you smell :)

Gives a decent first impression as being a simpler top-down shooter in the style of The Binding of Isaac, but the holes in its game design show up quite quickly. Pros: +It's easy to pick up and play. Very simple, arcade-styled gameplay. +Some fun art and items that give it a unique, somewhat vulgar and DIY style (shoutouts to Newgrounds) +It cuts out the parts of Isaac I don't like, such as backtracking and looking for secret rooms. +A good song in the first level. Cons: -It gets frustrating from zone 3 on and the charm wears thin. -Runs feel far too samey, very quickly. Not enough unique items. -With only one playable character and not a lot of decision-making, you feel limited and at the mercy of RNG. - Only being able to shoot left/right is a hindrance, and while the enemies are designed to take advantage of this, the rooms often aren't. Also, the ability to see the exact same room + enemy combinations within the same world makes them a bit tiring. I think $10 is a bit much to a...
Welcome to STEAM!
Shoot Trip Die (STD in short) is known and grown „big“ from the webpage „Newgrounds“ which basicly is nothing new in what the game is. It would count as a retro-styled arena shooter with some rogue-like elements – basicly a „watered down“ Binding of Isaac. Literally. Sadly, it fails in things which said Isaac– and other games made already better, with way less people in the team and with way less „ego“ as well.
Favoritsm and nepotism~
First of all i already had some „nice contact“ with the dev and some of the contributors of this game before it came out on steam. The game got hyped up for „how good“ it is BUT basicly got barely any good reviews - Just a lot people on Newgrounds which basicly gave it a 5 star voting for no other reason than 2 things: favoritsm and nepotism. You see, the whole game is created from „someone“ who is a bit known on Newgrounds with a team of about 35+ people BEHIND it[/...

I want to like this game, but I really can't. Many others have said it but this isn't a game that should be able to be bought with money, this is a simple newgrounds game that can be praised for being at least playable at best. First two areas are piss easy, then the last two are nothing but titty twisters. Some items are okay and others are actually just straight up nothing. Some unique items that can enhance a run instead become a hindrance later on, like how certain rooms are straight up impossible with something like kerosene or the scythe. Not only that but if you even dare pick too many items that help you in getting through the game alive, you just will not have anything to defend yourself in the later portions of the game. The game has secret rooms that have a chance of showing up after special rooms like the casino or the boss room. Despite the secret rooms being a chance based occurrence that only can appear after certain rooms, indicating that they are a reward for the ...

This game is super unfriendly to the player. Not capricious like Noita and such, not challenging like Enter the Gungeon, just unfair. It doesn't reward skill, just punishes you for having bad luck. The way a lot of rooms just spawn enemies on you, it's like you're expected to get shit on by RNG, and I got a run where I grabed the scythe which turns your shot into a boomerang, then had to reset because a room in the sweats had a big divide I couldn't shoot across. It feels like some dude whipped this out in two months for shits and giggles, playtested it for maybe two hours, then said "fuck it." And normally, that'd be fine. Post it on NG, get some love for a faceted, functioning game. But where this feels really cheap is that despite the lack of effort or care, Levi wants you to pay $5 for the game. It's fun enough for a few runs, but it really isn't enough of a game design or content-wise to prompt anything more than a buck. Next time, please just put it on itch.io as a name-yo...
