PAW Patrol: Grand Prix

I bought this to play with my boys (3 and 5). The game itself is good, and the "autopilot" is great for letting the little one play. But there are some absolutely show-stopping bugs that make this game awful on Steam. First is that the game doesn't recognize all controllers at the very beginning. One controller (seemingly at random?) will be the only controller it pays attention to. So on the very first screen, when it says "Press A", it's already chosen who is Player 1. What that means in practice is that I have to either convince my toddlers to change controllers with me -- a difficult task for a 3 year old -- or talk them through navigating the menus, one.....button.....at.....a......time....... The second is that once you choose "Play With Friends" (local multiplayer), and "Custom Race", and go through the hassle of getting toddlers to choose characters, skins, specials, the kinds of sparks the tires produce, the track, the difficulty, whether Mayor Humpdinger is in the race, an...

The game is simple enough for its target audience and has multiple save slots so you can play again without deleting all of your data. This is also useful in case you bought this for your kids and want to have them play it on your account because you're uncomfortable with them having their own Steam account or other. The skins are nice, and the difficulties are on par with what they need. Even hard mode isn't impossible for a 6 year old to beat. Love this game overall, but I wish they had more characters like the Mighty Twins Tuck and Ella, Al from the Big Truck Pups, along with Coral. I'm not as upset for Roxy not being here since she will be in the Rescue Wheels game coming out later this year. Don't forget that the main 6 also have their race cars from the Ready, Race, Rescue movie!

An easy racing game, where you play as some pups, 10 characters to choose from, 17 tracks, and need to win the championship on all characters for 100%.

Cons outweigh pros for me Pros: Outstanding graphics, great imagery, seems fun, simple controls Cons: No control settings, ability to add multiple players is broken This PC port has no effort made to adapt to PC control standards and would frustrate my children who would only be able to play one at a time instead of head-to-head as advertised.

Parents do not be fooled by the lower 30$ price tag. There are plenty of high quality children friendly games on Steam that have more replayablity and enjoyably for all ages. There are only a few tracks, few characters. The only time I recommend this game is if your kids have a real liking to Paw Patrol, otherwise steer clear of this game and save up a bit more for other games. I bought this only because my little cousins really wanted to play a Paw Patrol game, we played this for about an hour and ended up just playing other games I had. There is also not great controller support, so unless you have 4 Xbox controllers laying around, prepare to deal with Steam Input and have to explain to young children why "X" on the Playstation controller is not the same as "X" on the Nintendo Switch.
