About This Game

Set sail towards adventure in the world of Sailwind! This sailing simulator with survival elements features realistic sailing physics and a vast open world to explore. Embark on cargo delivery missions, customize your boat with furniture and decorations, or enjoy some fishing.

Take it easy and go for a calm, relaxing trip around the local islands, or, when you're ready for some adventure, buy a big boat and go on a dangerous voyage across the ocean to distant lands. Use navigation instruments, the sun and the stars to stay on course, battle storms and high winds, and don't forget to stock enough food and water for the long journey!

SAILING

Full realistic sailing physics – in order to sail successfully, you’ll have to tack, reef the sails in heavy weather, keep track of the direction of the wind to find the perfect angle. Watch out for the ever changing weather and waves!

Six boats of different sizes and sail plans to choose from, each with its own unique sailing characteristics and performance.

ADVENTURE & SURVIVAL

There are many reasons to set sail – cargo delivery, fishing, exploration, or simply for pleasure.
Looking for some relaxation? Enjoy the sunny beaches and crystal clear waters around the tropical archipelagos.
Ready for an adventure? Buy a big boat, stock up on supplies, plot your route and set sail for an epic ocean voyage, where you will battle high waves, heavy winds, and where running out of food or water is a real danger.

OPEN WORLD

The world consists of many islands across three distinct regions, each with unique climate, architecture and economy. Drop anchor or dock your boat, step off and explore each island freely. Make sure to stock up on food and water – both in game and in real life, as a journey across the ocean can take many hours of real time with no land in sight!

NAVIGATION

Use navigation instruments such as the compass and quadrant to determine your heading and position. Observe the sun and stars, chart your position on the map, and hope you don’t get too far off course on the long journey across the vast ocean.

BOAT CUSTOMIZATION

Your boat is your home on the sea. Make it feel cozy by customizing with furniture, decorations and paint. Cook your own food, clean and polish the deck, and at the end of the day, sit in a chair and have some rum or smoke a pipe while watching the sunset.

OTHER FEATURES

- fishing & cooking
- dynamic weather & time of day
- realistic stars, sun and moon
- dynamic economy & trading (buy low, sell high for profit)

I want to like this game because there isn't really any other game with realistic sailing that isn't just a basic sim, but there are so many problems that I don't have faith that the dev will ever fix, so I can't recommend. Bugs: "don't worry it's Early Access, they will fix them before release" - said for every buggy released Early Access title ever. Some of these bugs are really bad, such as sinking when loading a save, physics issues with items springing off wildly, permanently listing, AI boats ramming you and locking you in place at docks (this is game-breaking, since unless you manage to glitch the physics to launch your boat free, you are stuck there, and this has existed as a bug for well over a year already, the dev doesn't seem to care to fix it), and many, many more... Outside bugs, there's also issues with the design itself. For one, if you are playing normally and not metagaming it, it is insanely grindy. If you're a new player with no prior knowledge it can take >30 hou...

I don't know why, we as a community, continue to pay money for early access games. This game is currently at version 0.32 after 4 years. They should be paying us to test such a low revision number. Not the other way around. So many other developers do the same. We pay them to test their game and it never leaves early access. And why do so many games have PS2 graphics these days?!! I'm officially done paying for hopeless early access games and I encourage you all to do the same. Otherwise nothing will change. I'm sorry if this is a single person developer working on a dream after a long day at work. I totally understand it and I'm happy to support the hard work. But I'm tired of supporting games that never leave early access. It's starting to feel like supporting someone's lifestyle rather than the product they're producing.

Good relaxing game! I have visited all the archipelagos, bought a Brig, fully upgraded it with the best equipment, and accumulated a lot of gold coins. At this point, I’ve achieved everything I could. Now the only thing left is to keep increasing my wealth, but without a goal, it’s no longer as motivating. I really enjoyed the game, especially the moment when I first crossed the ocean and finally saw land in the distance. Navigation was a bit tricky to figure out at first, and the purpose of many items is unclear until you buy and test them. But that’s fine. What I’d like to suggest to the developer: Add the ability to sell ships, at least for 20–30% of their price. Make exploring islands, including uninhabited ones, more interesting. Right now there’s not much to do there. You could add fruit trees so players can gather a few apples or bananas. Maybe include a dice mini-game (like in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2). Create interesting locations — for example, in the wre...

Can't in good conscience recommend a game that is so frustrating on a primal level. On the surface you'd think it's a perfect relaxing experience but then it grinds you down with cheating winds that dynamically update against all odds to be perfectly against you. That's okay, I'll just tack! HA, nope, f*ck off, wind updated again to be coming from your destination.

I try and try to like this game and i love the running cargo aspect of this game but as soon as i start to progress in this game storms come and wipe my progress out, i rage quit and leave the game for months at a time, coming back to try and get back into it but i run into storms that wipe my progress out again. this game sucks ass and anyone who says its not is a masochist. i just want a cargo running game with boats and ships.

I really want to like this game and I really love the premise but the winds need serious tweaking before I can give this a positive review. I know winds change, but WHY A HEADWIND EVERY TIME!? Every time I start a game it starts on a headwind... It's so frustrating especially because if often feels like it never changes and I have to fight a headwind the entire trip.

For me it's a very atmospheric, reasonably realistic, sailing simulator. Lots of beautiful moments. Some bugs here and there.

I expected so much from this game. In fact, I had read somewhere online that this was a pretty good trading sim game. But having now played it... It's VERY bare bones. First, no music. Sound is also lacklustre. I mean, the only thing keeping you company when at sea is the sound of the waves breaking, the seagulls, the music in ports... The ambience is just not there in this game.

Not at the moment, main gripe it the wind system feels like a troll by the developer, why does the wind direction shift to be a headwind every time, I understand tacking is important but it not fun to have to do it every time I want to moor, especially with the starter ships that need a huge angle to achieve it

I can't figure out why this game is very positive. There's not really a tutorial, just a picture of wind that's not self explanatory to someone that knows nothing about sailing. I like the idea, but how can you charge 20$ for a game that works, but doesn't actually teach you. It's only therapeutic if you're a sailor apparently, because trying to make sense of the most janky tutorial I've ever seen in my life is impossible. They couldn't just have video tutorials with examples? The tutorial assumes you know how to sail, basically just tells you what mechanisms on the boat do what, not how to actually implement that dynamically.
