I want to quickly clarify that despite my playtime I did finish the game. My first attempt was on my Steam Deck, it ran but nowhere near to a quality I was satisfied with so I ended up playing on my PlayStation instead. I’ve been following Post Trauma since it was much earlier in development. Back then the project seemed interesting but also like it was going to come of out the oven half baked. I don’t think my stance has changed much after release. It’s a bit frustrating because I think this game gets so much right. The environmental story telling in the school, the puzzle design in the hospital and the train, the writing between Roman and Freya and the tension and dread in every section of the game. When this game is at it’s highs it’s honestly some of the best of it’s genre, but the lows make this feel like a shovelware game. Guns that don’t hit enemies, enemies that don’t hit hard enough or appear frequently enough, voice acting that makes me sound like Morgan Fr...

About the Game

Post Trauma is a Puzzle Horror Game and Red Soul Games is a small studio made up of fans of old school survival horror. We have taken a lot of inspiration from several genre-defining classics and we hope it shows!
Puzzle oriented: Designed for players looking for a challenge. Escape room style puzzles that require you to study your surroundings carefully. A pen and paper is recommended.
Retro Vibes: Play a modern survival horror through a retro-focused lens. Fixed Cameras. Save Rooms (With limited saving on hard mode). And continuous tension built through the atmosphere
Tackle Threats: Or choose not to! Not every enemy needs to be fought or encounter won, so pick your battles wisely!
Multiple Perspectives: The Gloom isn’t as lonely as it first appears, as the story of Post Trauma is told from multiple perspectives with full voice acting.
In Post Trauma, players control Roman (Togo Igawa), a tormented train conductor who awakes to find himself in a surreal dimension following a terrible panic attack. Faced with horrifying architecture and nightmarish abominations, Roman can choose to defend himself with an array of weapons or try to find the path of least resistance.
Inspired by key staples of the Survival Horror genre, Post Trauma blends fixed camera angles with stunning visuals through Unreal Engine 5 to create a truly unsettling, yet familiar horror experience. But just when you think you have the answers, this hellscape changes the questions as you enter the unknown to face your greatest fears.
To survive this cruel world, you must piece together an ongoing mystery across several, seemingly unrelated settings. Deducing your environments to find unlikely hints and discovering precious tools in unexpected places will help you make continued progress.
As you find clues and solve puzzles, you’ll gradually learn more about where you are and how you can escape, using a delicate mix of patience and cunning to stay alive. And maybe a pad and paper too.
Featuring a fully voice acted cast (Togo Igawa, Autumn Ivy, Hyoie O’Grady) and a captivating, ambient audioscape, elevated by a hypnotic score from Nicolas Gasparini (Myuu), Post Trauma has been crafted to be a homage to beloved franchises and a new merging of playstyles. The intent is to create a truly special, unforgettable horror experience fuelled by pure passion and incredible talent.

I don't remember where I saw this one first, but some time ago I've seen it as a "hidden gem" in some video. As a survivor horror ps2 style fan I was very excited to play it and was waiting for my wife to play it (we usually play similar games together). And it was a total dissapointment. The only good thing that I've found here was music. And it's definately was written impressed by Akira's osts. All ather things is horrible. Scenario doesn't have anything interesting. The main "plot twist" is known after the first npc appearyng. And the side story with the syde character is not complete and there is no meaning for anything that happens with him. Gameplay and fight system is just horrible, there is no balance, there is no challenge, there is no feeling of the survivor horror. And there are maybe like 15 enemies for the whole game. Level design is useless, I don't remember game with the same amount of useless rooms, especially it scope of that this one is VERY short. And the ma...
If you want my full thoughts, check out my review @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwJu3ZId1zQ Here is a brief overview of my feelings on this game, but it is very complicated... I don't believe that classic survival horror was the best vehicle for these developers to tell this particular story. I think they would've been better suited with a point and click adventure game in the style of something like The Cat Lady, Strangeland, or Stasis. Every fundamental aspect of the genre is either completely mishandled or omitted entirely. No map, no file system, no crafting or combinables, no meaningful resource or inventory management. Limited saving is an unnecessary inclusion and seems like a cynical nod to hardcore fans of the genre. The uninspired enemy design, overindulgent cinematography, appropriated soundtrack, painful writing, inconsistent performances, and unreal engine store bought aesthetic provide no distinct identity to Post Trauma. The level design swings wildly between AAA l...
Right out of the gate, Post Trauma captivated my attention. Waking up on a subway, no knowledge of getting there, blood, darkness, and a *very* clever puzzle. You eventually roll into the subway station, it's abandoned, there's strange growth on the walls and you are alone. But can you really be sure of that? One thing the early areas of Post Trauma does very well is creating a tense and oppressive atmosphere in a mostly subtle way. It's very easy to make parallels to Silent Hill (1 and 2 mostly) in terms of early combat, fixed camera positions, and overall design. The puzzles are very clever and had me even using a pen and paper for taking notes. Despite how brilliantly all of these elements seemed to come together in the beginning, everything falls apart very quickly towards the end of act 2. Enemy placement is sparse at best, and the combat itself starts to feel like an afterthought. There are only 4 weapons in total (5 if you count the crowbar you use in Act 1), a sledgehammer, a ...
While I initially felt somewhat disappointed about this game as a whole, its atmospheric game design has really managed to stick with me. I find myself consistently thinking back to the subway, hospital, school and labyrinth levels as great examples of unnerving set pieces that really give the player a sense of dread. There's an eerie sense of intrigue with every bit of exploring that felt especially strong during the subway and hospital levels for me, and the lack of enemies honestly just showcases the fact that atmosphere is not created by the presence of a direct threat to the player alone. Unfortunately, the plot is messy and lackluster. It's a half-baked attempt at recreating a Silent Hill plot that falls flat, especially near the end of the game. Despite this I have genuinely come to believe that this game is worth a playthrough, as I really do feel a lasting impression from its atmosphere.
I have a lot to say about this game. I feel like a lot of love and dedication went into this but not enough polish. There were a lot of typos and then some words wrote into the subtitles but not said or said in Japanese. REGUARDLESS The game had amazing music voice acting and ambiance. I adored this game and I can tell a lot of passion went into this. My ONLY main issue is the final boss. I won't spoil it but if you feel like you're pulling your hair out at it you aren't crazy. The final 'fight' isn't a fight but a puzzle. Thank you team Red Soul for this gem. I adored the sassy Freya and DILF Roman.
Yes and no. Act 4 and 5 fall flat on their face at some point and the story drifts off into some really weird stuff but at the end I still enjoyed my time with the game and if its for sale for like 10 bucks i can safely recommend the game. Act 1 - 3 are a joy
this game is singlehandely top 2 worst horror games ive ever played i was so excited when it changed perspectives because I thought it was a neat twist and the puzzles were alright story is dog asshole
played for 3 minutes Graphics and Atmosphere was NICE then ...Fatal Error :\ .. "Okay lets change the graphics setting maybe this game isn't made for RTX 5090" let's go lower. FATAL ERROR.... FATAL ERROR...... FATAL ERROR........ FATAL ERROR............ FAATTTAAALLL ERRRRRROOORRRRRR' and am still not sure... is this part of the game puzzles ???!!!
It seemed like there was potential, it even looked like someone on the team was trying, but overall it looks like a crude rip-off of asset flipping. Third chapter is russian trash pack Abandoned Psychiatric Hospital that has decals on walls like 1488 and else that developers even not clean before using. All puzzles boil down to find the key/code and enter it. A lot of interesting moment and horror part just broken. Sometimes the camera and shot are well-placed, here you can say that it was good.
