this is like one of the only games which almost perfectly captures the frutiger aero aesthethic. It's decent. And still looks marvellous.

About This Game

In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted. You are a Runner called Faith and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story.
Mirror's Edge™ delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith's world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous.
Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city you will learn how to run. From the makers of the groundbreaking Battlefield franchise, Mirror's Edge is an action-adventure experience unlike any other.
Features
- Move yourself: String together an amazing arsenal of wall-runs, leaps, vaults and more, in fluid, acrobatic movements that turns every level of the urban environment to your advantage and salvation.
- Immerse yourself: In first person every breath, every collision, every impact is acutely felt. Heights create real vertigo, movements flow naturally, collisions and bullet impacts create genuine fear and adrenaline.
- Challenge yourself: Fight or flight. Your speed and agility allow you not only to evade, capture and perform daring escapes, but also to disable and disarm unwary opponents, in a mix of chase, puzzles, strategy and intense combat.
- Free yourself: Runner vision allows you to see the city as they do. See the flow. Rooftops become pathways and conduits, opportunities and escape routes. The flow is what keeps you running what keeps you alive.

The atmosphere and aesthetics are so...relaxing and good (average Frutiger Aero/Y2k enthusiast) and remind me so much of the old days when i was younger, so much nostalgia. A game one of a kind.
It should be better, should be more fulfilling.. But still: an experimental action parkour with a good sense of movement dynamics and the legs (full body)? +Respect to DICE. (Normal; no runner-vision, no hints, no kills) Gameplay: combat mechanics 3/10 parkour mechanics [despite being buggy & cr@ppy compared to DL1, and being pioneer, well, ok..] 9/10 atmosphere [nice immersive features spoiled by consolish heresy] 7/10 Lore and setting 5/10 <Story> Plot and characters/semiotics [thanks to the sister, it's not zer0] 1/10 Graphics [sane first-person; nice style and lighting system only] 8/10 Sound work [accurate, but doesn't help in combat] 8/10 ( need the DSOAL soft + TdEngine.ini edits ) Sounds & music [sounds about 6/10, but the effort is noticeable] 7/10 . Plus a score for the ingenious idea. "7/10"
A bold leap that doesn't nail the landing. Mirror's Edge (2008) stands as EA's ambitious attempt at creating something genuinely innovative—a first-person parkour game that dared to be different in an industry dominated by shooters. Starring Faith Connors (voiced by Jules de Jongh), also known by her alias Phoenix Carpenter, this dystopian adventure introduces us to a "Runner" navigating the sterile rooftops of a totalitarian city. Faith Connors: A Standout Protagonist Faith emerges as one of gaming's most compelling female protagonists, both visually and narratively. Her striking design—short black hair, a bold tattoo around her right eye, black tank top, red gloves, and white cargo pants—embodies the game's minimalist aesthetic while making her instantly recognizable. Crucially, her design avoids oversexualization, focusing on practicality and athletic functionality that serves the gameplay. Her backstory adds genuine depth to her rebellious spirit. Having lost her mot...
Mirror’s Edge is a bold, kinetic, and visually striking first-person action game that dared to break away from the conventions of its genre. Released in 2008 by DICE, a studio better known for large-scale shooters like Battlefield, Mirror’s Edge took the immersive first-person perspective and applied it to something entirely different: parkour. Instead of putting a gun in the player’s hands and focusing on combat, the game emphasizes movement, momentum, and spatial awareness, delivering an experience that feels simultaneously liberating and claustrophobic. With its clean, minimalist art direction and unconventional design, it stands out as one of the most original and memorable titles of its time. The story of Mirror’s Edge centers on Faith Connors, a “Runner” living in a dystopian city where surveillance, control, and information suppression are the norm. Runners are underground couriers who deliver sensitive information while evading government detection. Faith’s journ...
Definitely one of the most unique games I've had the pleasure of playing. The art style in this game is unmatched, and I love the use of bold coloring. I like how it mixes the modern minimalist art style with tiny bits of frutiger aero, all with a dystopian bow tying it all together. I am a HUGE fan of dystopian cyberpunk games, and Mirror's edge stands out from all the others I've played. While most other games stick to a dark and depressing atmosphere, surprisingly this game does the opposite, and has a very colorful atmosphere, even though the game itself is dystopian. Story was decent, although a little bit short. Parkour felt great most of the time, though I did have a few frustrating bits here and there. Overall 8.5 / 10 game.
The best Parkour game since 2008!
I wanted to love this game. It looks ridiculously good for a game that's from 2009, the atmosphere and the music are great. But for a game that's based around hardcore parkour, I wish it was more about parkour and less about nonsense, such as getting sprayed by 5 ennemies with automatic rifles while having to do the most unreasonable flips ever seen to mankind. Also, the controls are very clunky, to the point of frustration, and the timing required to do certain moves (without which you can't get past certain levels) is quick-time-event-like... Only if souls games were quick time event based. Faith is slow as shi for someone who's supposed to be a parkour master. Got up to the last bit of the Kruger level and uninstalled. The difficuly level is stupid af for a "parkour" game. Not only are you required to do a quite impossible move (unless you spend 60 hours perfecting your parkour skills, which at this point I'd rather do it irl), but you have to do it while being chased by 5 ninja ahh...
running is cool. the city is from a dream. makes me forget my own unfulfilled ambitions.
Great game to not tab out of
