Incision is a frustrating and poorly balanced shooter. It lacks a quicksave feature, which would be fine if the level design didn't lean on cheap difficulty with instant-death explosives and unpredictable enemy behavior. The combat feels imprecise, and movement is awkward and inconsistent. Game doesn't value your time. I genuinely wanted to enjoy it, there’s a lot to appreciate in the music and atmosphere, but the core gameplay needs significant fine-tuning.

About This Game
INCISION is a brutal, fast, merciless blast from the past inspired by the godfathers of the first person shooter genre such as Doom, Quake, Blood, Shadow Warrior. INCISION offers an experience that demands skill and focus from its player, and rewards them with intense carnage that will paint the town red. Yours is a simple job. Cut, shoot, burn and decimate it all to stop the spread of the Growth. Mercy is weakness. Hesitation is death.
INCISION is designed to be merciless in its difficulty, but the player will never feel weak in the face of danger. Your arsenal is varied, powerful, loud, and will easily turn enemies into sticky red puddles, as long as they don't first do it to you. Movement is fast and responsive; story never gets in the way of the gameplay.
Ten weapons of mass-slaughter, all including powerful alternative firing modes. Fire a volley of bouncing incendiary bombs out of your shotgun. Lob grenades from your heavy machine gun to turn your foes into red mist. Do tricks with your trusty revolver to maximize its damage output. Spray a volley of four incendiary rockets and watch even the strongest foe crumble into ashes before you. Go berserk with a saw-spear that works as a long-range slashing weapon or as a close-range buzzsaw.
The world of INCISION has been transformed into a living nightmare where a ever-consuming, ever-growing mass of flesh and machine live in unholy symbiosis. All we hold familiar and comfortable has been turned into a network of hellish, rusty, pulsating labyrinthian series of factories that serve as the nerves and organs for some greater being that only seeks to merge, unite and grow.
The Growth has merged and united all life on the planet, turning its people into machine-freaks, all of them designed to turn anyone who opposes their regime inside-out. Augmented soldiers with burst-firing energy rifles, mad sycophants with ricocheting sawblades, machine spider-priests aka. "Spiderpopes" with homing missiles. INCISION's roster of monsters will keep you on your toes til the bloody end.
HEAD-BANGING & SKULL-RATTLING
INCISION includes a soundtrack by Frédérick Chicoine "iNi"; An entire album's worth of atmospheric horror ambience and mayhem-inducing metal that will burst your veins with adrenaline.

This game would be a lot more fun if it had a save feature. I don't get it, though. If this is the solution that was created to keep people from savescumming, why not just implement checkpoints like the modern DOOM games? It makes no sense and it allows for little experimentation in an otherwise very punishing environment. The gameplay itself is fun enough, and I really like the music, but I can't personally recommend it due to the lack of a save system.
Probably my favourite retro shooter since DUSK. The guns? Slick The level design and flow? Inspired and seamless The graphics and art direction? Of the highest caliber The music and sound design? Me likey If you like when the big iron goes boom boom and you don't have time for gimmicky mechanics, INCISION's your game,
- no quicksaves, no checkpoints, must beat levels in one sitting or put the game to sleep and hope it doesn't crash when you go back to it, uses a 1up system - poor visibility within levels makes navigation a major pain - poorly implemented vfx, difficult to see what is even happening during heavy combat segments - weak sounding and feeling weapons - overly difficult which is a problem with the lives system (super aggressive and tanky enemies, health depletes very quickly, death traps) I respect the singular vision and style, just wish it was in a better game.
Abysmal performance on an rtx 3090 and 5950x. I can tell there's fun to be had but I just cannot justify playing a game with this lack of optimization. Also the audio feedback of the weapons is nearly cap-gun like compared to other shooters and even gzdoom total conversions are miles better audio wise.
Please change the way the save system works. Either allow manual saving or make an exit save. I have things to do and may have to quit mid-level. I don't want to have to replay anything.
If this is a boomer shooter, then I am the king of France. No save states, "extra lives", checkpoints, weird ass reticle, "flash light".
ABSOLUTELY GOATED GAME. Not too easy, not absurdly difficult either, a good mix of caution and guns-blazing havoc. And yes, there are no saves/loads, but I don't think it's a bad thing, since you have to lock in, and when you're out of lives and at low health... shit gets real. This is Quake on steroids, cocaine and bath salts all at the same time, and I mean that in the best way possible. 10/10!
Styles itself as a "Retro throwback" but then lacks basic features like saving and loading, instead you're now stuck with an arcadey lives system... but the levels themselves are extremely difficult and can last up to 15 minutes, making you start. From the beginning, every time.
no. this is not a new DUSK. this is an extremely bad game, with terrible visuals, clunky controls and impossible difficulty.
