About This Game

Game has been completely overhauled in 2024. Try the new version!

Cascade Tactics is a tactical RPG full of interesting and interactive abilities. Hire your team, choose your classes, upgrade your equipment, and take on a variety of missions.

Created by a solo developer, Cascade Tactics seeks to recreate the fun of customizing and progressing a squad of characters (like Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre). Cascade Tactics' strengths reside in its strategic gameplay, extremely smart AI, and highly customizable team.

Don't want to think too hard? Let AI auto-battle for you so that you can enjoy all of the other fun things to do.

Three Game Modes!
Epic Mode for story-mode players
Roguelite Mode for competitive players
Survival Mode for a more challenging story-mode

Interactive Mechanics:
Many actions take time before they are executed. This gives the opponent time to react. Deal damage to the caster to stop the action. Move / Push / Teleport units into or out of danger. Protect the target with another action before he is hit. Change the target of the caster with Silencer's Redirect. These opportunities allow the battles to feel fun and interactive.

Status Effects are linked (or channeled). Deal damage to the caster to stop the status effect.

Features a Dual-class system with interesting synergies.

A Commander can issues commands to other units. A Ninja can attack twice with his weapon. When a character's two classes are Commander and Ninja you can issue commands to other units to attack twice.

A Sentinel can guard tiles with his weapon. A Pyromancer can deal damage to an area with Flames. When a character has both classes, he can guard locations with Flames: casting it anytime an enemy walks on the tile.

An Archer can add any magical ability to his weapon attack. An Ice Mage can cast Ice spells. When combined, you can freeze a target with your weapon.

  • New Dice Minigame! Buy / Equip / Roll dice to earn rewards.
  • Now over 25 unique and interesting Classes!
  • Once you have finished the story-mode, there is still much more to do. Special mission sequences become available and you may repeat the story-mode at a higher difficulty
  • Huge variety among missions. Some missions offer bonuses you can pick up on the battlefield. Others offer bonuses when you defeat a unit. Some missions will have enemies arrive on the battlefield late and others will have powerful bosses with special abilities. You will often fight alongside an AI-controlled faction or AI-controlled hero.

First impressions, I intend to update later when I advance further through the game: Not terrible, but far from the best. I had hoped that this could scratch the seemingly insatiable itch that the FFT series has long since imposed upon me, but it just doesn't. Gameplay wise? It's alright. The combat wasn't hard to learn and the visual turn order thing is a nice touch. Graphics? They kinda stink. It looks like a good artist was forced to use old, ill equipped software and only given 10 minutes to complete each character. I suppose it has some degree of charm, but it's not my cup of tea. The levels are huge despite the low movement range, I think this was to compensate for the large amounts of units on the battlefield at the time. In theory, this would make battles seem bigger and more dramatic, but in practice, it just makes the game feel slow and underwhelming. Lastly I hate the UI. The text is small and looks out of place. The icons are alright, but it all looks really messy and out o...
