About This Game

This is a story about death.

Luto is a psychological horror experience where you take on the role of someone unable to leave their home. Every attempt to escape will lead you deeper into the unknown, where nothing is as it seems and everything will test your senses.

  • What lies behind loss: feel the void left by the absence of a loved one, where despair grows, fed by anxiety and depression. Day after day...

  • Between reality and fiction: delve into an enigmatic place and explore its labyrinthine paths full of secrets. The truth has many faces, and you might not like the one you find.

  • Will not let you go: experience unsettling terror that envelops your senses, with fears lurking around every corner. Darkness does not only dwell in shadows.

  • Never.

Luto isn’t about being chased by monsters—it’s about facing the ghosts inside your mind. Set inside a looping, shifting house, you step into the shoes of Samuel, endlessly reliving a day that won’t let him go. As the environments warp and timelines blur, the house becomes both a prison and a mirror—an evocative metaphor for grief and trauma rehearsed over and over

Wow, what a game! Go in knowing as little as possible and just enjoy the ride because my GOD it's so well done. The atmosphere, the voice acting, the puzzles... it's what I would expect from a major developer. Please please please make more horror games - the genre desperately needs it!!

I must have played a very different game than most of the positive reviews because a lot of the things they're praising are my issues with Luto. First off let me say that the idea of this game is great, to talk about the premise is almost a spoiler itself but the loop (both gameplay and narrative-wise) is very meaningful and I appreciate the story they're trying to tell here. There were a couple moments that made me chuckle, the environmental storytelling was quite nice as well, and I think the resolution of the game ends on a decent enough note. I think the puzzles, while far from groundbreaking, are decent enough in variety though I agree with other commenters that they lack meaningful progression feedback and I never really came out of any of them with a real sense of accomplishment. More an eyeroll than anything. This game gets in the way of its own story so many damn times though that I was completely disconnected by the end. It felt like the dev had a checklist of gimmicks ...

I played the demo 3 years ago and I was looking forward to the full release for so long. I was constantly looking for any update regarding the release date because it was so good. Fast forward to launch- This game is perfect. I laughed so hard. I cried so hard. I was scared so hard. I puzzled so hard. If you are a fan of Silent Hills PT or Stanley Parable (or both?) you will love this game. Be warned about how hard it will hit emotionally.

I've played far too many horror games to get invested into this. Maybe cool for one of your first experiences. But I played PT back when it came out and THAT felt scary. I've done all the classics like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Outlast, etc. Maybe playing horror games in VR ruined me but it is what it is. Outlast didn't have combat either, you just had to hide a bit. And that worked until you got caught a few times. With Luto, I never, ever felt like I was in danger. The atmosphere is alright, but it doesn't feel scary whatsoever. The puzzles are mediocre, some of it is a little obtuse as well, it's easy to get stuck for a second. Like when you have to walk around without any light to the next location. Didn't really work for me. Or getting the hammer early on. It wasn't a difficult puzzle but doing the SOS button three times didn't really click instantly. The part after that is a little better, though. The story is okay, it's interesting, but there's too much nonsense ar...

I went into this expecting nothing but a horror game with a few jump scares. Nothing more. What I received was some of the most heartfelt and moving storytelling I've ever seen in a videogame, or any medium for that matter. I was not prepared for an emotional ride like that, but I'm glad I got to experience it blind. There were multiple times I thought I had figured out what was going on, only to have the rug pulled out from under me again and again, and then when the reality of everything finally dawned on me, it was something special. It's clear the designers had some really personal feelings invested in this story, and it's that much better for it. As far as the "game" part of this review; It looks great, as many Unreal games do these days. The lighting is expertly controlled to get a certain feeling out of you and the devs almost playfully show this skillset off to the player at times (in the best way possible). The sound design is perfect, and I can't imagine how many hundreds ...

A splendid "horror-lite" game. The puzzles felt fair, the writing was well done, and the dark atmosphere was immersive. I really enjoyed this experience.

HOLY HELL! Puzzle horror walking simulator with a really really good story about death, loss and coping with and ending that sends one of the best messages. may not be for everyone but man don't skip on this game if you read it's nothing like the demo, they said it would be nothing like the demo. I can only whole heartedly hope these devs continue to make games. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!

I'm not mad... I'm just disappointed. The game itself is pretty decent. However... with that being said... it's not what I was expecting. When you played the demo you got a whole different feel of what this game was going to be. When you play the game... the horror just isn't there. This is more a delve into the mind... and the demo gave a perception that there was going to be more of horror in the ways of those beings in sheets. The game is pretty... but nowhere near as terrifying as the demo was. The demo itself gave me a fear of anything with a sheet covering it from there on out... "Luto" the actual game... was just difficult puzzles with deeper meanings. So if you're looking at this game for the scary type of horror... then you're in the wrong place... but if you want a trip into a broken mind... you've found your spot.

"I don't need to know what you're doing under that sheet" - Samuel, probably Luto is an expression of grief and loss in a way that explores the finite nature of our existence; and how things that matter to us now may matter far less when something we loved is gone. I'd like to preface this review by stating that it will be somewhat spoiler-heavy, so please keep that in mind before reading. Luto is a few games in one package; but while wearing a few different colours, it carries itself with a considerably higher amount of... melancholy, so to speak. Silent Hill 2 carries a red flag of grief, fashioning it into a spear so that it can impale you with your own guilt and complicity. Luto carries a white flag of grief, and while it does create tension, atmosphere and a fear of what's to come, it never accuses you of anything. Instead, my interpretation was that the game forces the player to confront their pain through the mundane. As you begin to unravel the normal, as you carry y...
