The first crysis is pretty meh, its a faux open world that lures you into believing you have stealth options when in reality your only stealth option is using the suit. The AI is immediately aware of your presence even from a mile away the moment you step out uncloaked. Sometimes behind bushes, other times behind hills. I've given up on approaching the game as stealth as waiting for the suits energy level to move anywhere is just annoying. Running and gunning it. The AI in this game overall is just bad, not in a challenging way, just in a braindead but with eagle vision way. They are a bit of a bullet sponge as well. Cannot recommend the first Crysis, nothing about it feels good. I will finish it but only because I want to see where the plot goes. I was wondering why I never finished it the first go around and it became really obvious real quick why I got bored of it.

A shameful "remaster" to a relic of PC gaming. "Can it run Crysis?" was usually a question asked to gauge your PC's capabilities back in 2007 for the game's revolutionary graphics and mechanics, making this game ahead of its time. Fast forward a decade and a few years later, we get this lazy remaster that didn't even bother on improving the game. Controls and movement feel janky and stiff. Piloting the aircraft in this game has outdated controls. No proper save feature which made me rely on a flawed checkpoint system. Enemy AI is all over the place and inconsistent. While I did enjoy the tactical combat, stealthily clearing out enemies with headshots while being cloaked in a forest, the game could have been improved with simple adjustments and not ultimately rely on a console port. Goes to show how bad this remaster is if you have the modding community making an enhanced mod that's better than whatever Crytek released.
One of the best FPS shooter and the remastered version is really good. Crysis when originally released on 2007 was much ahead of it's time and most PCs were brought to their knees running this game. For the upcoming few years "Can it run Crysis?" became the catch phrase to benchmark PC hardware. Gameplay is really good and story driven, I really enjoyed the single player main story and few side missions at normal difficulty level.
The old Crysis classic, updated with beautiful graphics. The game isn't particularly long, but it's still a showcase FPS title that's quite fun. The suit features make the game special. Joyful shooting fun with great graphics.
Once, Crysis was a reference of the FPS genre. An entertaining, experience with stunning graphics (for the time) and free of bugs. This "remaster" is none of that. OK, the graphics were reworked to look decent in 4K, but the facial animations are just dreadful. The UI is unresponsive. Delta difficulty is achieved by transforming enemies into bullet sponges. Stealth is a joke with enemies spotting you half accross the map. But the most annoying thing is the bugs : felled enemies barring doorways, missions stuck on unresponsive NPCs or enemies. More often than not, I have to restart at checkpoints without even knowing why or what went wrong... What good are revamped graphics if the GAME does not work? Whoever did this managed to spoil a spotless legacy into a irritating mess feeling like a beta version of the game. They clearly missed the mark.
Abysmal performance on RTX 4080 Super + i5 12600k, the game just cannnot utilize all the cores available, so enjoy frames dropping from 200 in one scene to 55 in another. Also, it is a "Remaster" of a console port of the original game, so the highest difficulty is cut, manual saves are cut, weird input bugs are present, physics are scaled down, AI is dumb, and I'm pretty sure a lot of the textures were not upscaled in any way, the trees look horrible up close at 1440p.
When checking this product on Steam, there are two major words to be taken into consideration, so I decided to split my review into two topics, which are "Crysis" and "Remastered." Let's start with Crysis. Crysis is one of those games released in one of the best eras of games. After the revolutionary Far Cry, Crytek decided to go all-in on the GPU obliteration market with Crysis, and we loved it! Crysis is amazing, with huge expansive levels, powerful guns, incredible tech, physics, water, vegetation, simulations, explosions, and details that we don't see in new games TO THIS DAY! The "Can it Run Crysis?" meme was not made in vain, this thing was powerful, massive, and way beyond what the technology could handle back then. Supplied with a cool campaign of around 7 hours where you can go all guns blazing or stealth, you really get to create your experience out of it. Now, the second topic, and why this review is negative… The remaster… Oh boy… It's no major news that Crytek d...
But can it run Crysis? Coming back to this game for the first time in over 15 years brings back all that childhood nostalgia. It's a fun, action-packed game that just gives you the feeling of power - grabbing enemies or throwing objects at them is still fun as ever. The remaster feels fresh while still keeping the original vibe/look. To keep it short - if you have ever played this, definitely pick it up (possibly on sale, as the whole trilogy would set you back less than $30) - and if you haven't played this, also definitely pick it up to experience a masterpiece as I cannot think of another game with a similar style. The simply don't make shooters like this anymore. For the completionists - this is such a short, packed game, and can be easily 100%-ed without the need of any guides. For the developers - please bring a remastered version of Warhead at some point in the future.
This is still a broken remaster even in 2025... They used the worthless console port for the remaster. They launched this with missing levels, broken physics, and many issues. To their credit they did fix the physics and added the missing levels back in. However, the controls are still not 100% like they were on the OG PC version of Crysis and it's really frustrating that they didn't fix that all the way. The game is clunky pretty bad, it stutters, the sound stutters, under the water isn't as nice looking, the footsteps of Nomad are really really loud. This game needs WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more work from Crytek. There is a lot of pop-in as well. There is a lot of good in this remaster but it's about 75% done IMO. My last complaint is we never got a remaster of Crysis Warhead. I understand that Crytek didn't make that game. However, it was a great expansion and gamer's deserve to have it as part of the collection. I can't recommend a game that is 75% finished or a remaster that makes you wan...
My computer was strong enough to run Crysis, however I wish it didn't. The game started off incredibly good, but the last few missions sucked out all the fun I had from playing it. Two missions in particular were so bugged that the only way to progress the story wasn't by reloading the last checkpoint or even restarting the mission, but you had to close the game, reboot in, and THEN restart the mission to fix. I loved the first and second act, but the third act alone sucked out every inch of joy I had for this game.
