I think this game has some potential, but it is not really there. There are two particular things, that seems more and more common in survival/exploration games, that I really don't like: 1) First person only is horrible for a lot of people and for several reasons (for me it really messes with my already weird eye-sight and gives me motion sickness- and it is also less immersive not to see your character in the world imo). 2) All these weird inventory backpack/storagebox inventions that seems so popular- from the stupid shelves in Sons of the Forest to super unclear backpacks in several games. What is wrong with a classic clean inventory, where you can keep your stuff organised and easily find what you need? The storage and backpack solution alone makes me not want to play the game as much.

About the Game

Project Castaway is survival crafting title set in the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. Hunt, gather, fell trees and embark on expeditions to traverse the ocean - discovering desert islands laden with unique resources.
Embark on the life of a true castaway - stranded on a deserted island, with just yourself for company. Scavenge or hunt for food, traverse from island to island and be carefully construct rafts & shelters for when the night comes - it can get awfully cold on these islands...

Being stranded has some upsides, at least. Explore beautiful Pacific landscapes. Swim through shimmering blue water to stand upon golden sands as waves crash against your feet. When the weather turns, take cover under palm trees as the rain pelts the ocean - and listen to the thunder crash overhead.
Use the natural materials surrounding you to construct a base - the key to your survival. Hunt animals, fell trees and scavenge ruined ships as you build your way to safety.
You best keep your wits about you - it can get lonely on these islands, and castaways have been known to lose their minds... Keep on top of your sanity and ensure that you're sleeping well - lest unnatural apparitions appear before you, seeking to take your life.

This game has potential but currently it's not playable at all, too many bugs
The only thing this game needs is a way to dive underwater without losing so much oxygen so quickly. I can't explore ship wrecks without needing to go back up for air before i even reach the ship.
I've never been a fan of survival type games, but Project Castaway is the one that got me interested. For all the negative reviews, keep in mind that this game is still in development with a very active team who update quite frequently and take feedback on board. Lots of the settings can be turned on or off, all the islands and treasure items are spawned randomly, so a new game means new map layouts and new searches. The crafting progression doesn't feel too slow, like it can in some games, the more you craft, the more items open up to be made, the more you run, the faster you can go, etc Thoroughly enjoying this one and looking forward to the finished product.
I really like this game. Your plane crashes and you swim to the nearby island. You have to find something to eat, make a shelter, keep warm, don't get sunburned....all typical survival type stuff. And with the newest update, you do have the choice to choose the "conditions" off or on (like sunburn, cold, parasites, etc). You can also choose the difficulty level and the passage of time (very slow, slow, normal, fast) There are wild animals you need to contend with, also. You make weapons and tools. mine for minerals, gather herbs, make bandages, etc. The story line is great, too. There are multiple islands you can explore after you build your raft. You have to find various notes and blueprints that are scattered all over the islands to eventually escape. I've been playing for a while, through various updates and it just keeps getting better and better. But keep in mind that it is still in the Early Access stage and there are some glitches here and there. There is a Discord ...
I love it. The biggest problem are all the letters you should read that takes your whole day. I would appriciate the time be slowed down or rather stopped entirely when you read them.
Project Castaway is a survival game that begins with a familiar yet gripping scenario: you’re the lone survivor of a plane crash, washed ashore on an uncharted tropical island with nothing but your instincts and the wreckage around you. At first glance, the setup may seem typical of the genre, but the game quickly distinguishes itself through a mix of atmospheric world-building, layered survival mechanics, and a subtle psychological edge that lends the experience an unusual sense of tension. The island, and the broader archipelago it belongs to, is lush, beautiful, and deceptively tranquil. Dense jungles, scattered beaches, rocky cliffs, and mysterious structures create a setting that feels natural and hand-crafted, rather than randomly generated or overly gamified. Visual and sound design work in tandem to reinforce this sense of immersion—waves lap against the shore, storms roll in unexpectedly, and sunlight filters through swaying palm fronds in a way that’s both calming and e...
Ok after an email from and to the creator of the game. I have found out that Intel GPU's all in one systems are NOT supported... So as far as my first reviews at his time I can not make a new review. The game looks great on supported system. So if you have a HP intel GPU all in one system it will not work right. As for the Creator he was a very nice helpful guy, and i look forward to playing this game and reviewing it at a later date... LOL After I get my new gaming system.. So to you all that have read my review. I hope you all enjoy his game and wish you all a great time..
Honestly Love this game just wish there were anchors for the rafts
This game is really a good one. Many times games like this will get hum drum but this one keeps on going, No boring in this game. I mostly like that the Dev. keeps working on it. If you find a bug it is usually fixed fairly soon. I enjoy all the different story lines that all tie into one. I will recommend this game to my friends.
