About This Game

"Welcome commander to your first non simulated mission. You are in control of our mining startup station, which has just reached our licensed territory in this sector. Mission begins now."

Deep Space Outpost is a sci-fi base builder with resource gathering and base management. Create your space station, mine asteroids for resources and make your mission a success.

Current features:-

  • Build your own space station tile by tile. Start with a small startup craft and expand to achieve your mission.

  • Game modes:- sandbox, scenarios and station builder. Current scenarios: Mining, Survival, Trading, Combat, Salvage, Repair and Rescue.

  • Gather resources by mining asteroids or capturing passing meteoroids/scrap. Refine into building materials, water, fuel and oxygen.

  • Manage your power production and usage. Watch out for solar storms and electrical damage.

  • Build defence turrets to protect your station from space threats such as pirates and meteoroids.

  • Trade resources with passing trader ships, allow visitors and charge them a fee to use your facilities.

  • Hire human workers from traders. Make sure your life support, algae farm and crew quarters are functioning.

  • Job management - Prioritise workers to repair, build, transport or deal with emergencies.

  • Research - Purchase schematics, unlocking new items and upgrades.

We want to expand this list greatly, take a look at the Early Access section for details of our roadmap and Steam discussions to see what we're currently working on.

I don't normally write reviews and I don't normally buy fresh Early Access products anymore due to the endless, unfinished heap of examples that stand as testament to being a poor practice. Perhaps it's my recent binge of FTL or idle curiosity but I decided to roll the dice on Deep Space Outpost. It is very, very barebones right now and probably the earliest EA I've rolled the dice on, but I do see the potential for "stationary FTL-like" gameplay so I will hold on to this one and add it to favorites to further track development. If you're patient and curious to see where this leads, then I'd recommend it. The ***potential*** is there and for that, I chose to lend my support.

I say yes, but wait and see what they add. Needs some form of research/progression, and more stuff to do or work towards. Has the building blocks to a great game, but it currently just the foundation, which is what i expect of an early access.

the early access is, as the description says, the basic mechanics. and despite some performance issues (which is to be expected) i have enjoyed my time with it so far! looking forward to whatever is coming down the pike! edit: a year-ish later and 25+ more hours in the game, i am still having fun with it and the dev has consistently been updating the game. still recommend! fun to play while listening to podcasts or music or whatever

Very nice & relaxed RTS game, there is some bugs & a lot of potential for added content, currently it is fun & playable if you don't mind a few bugs.

Irrespective of the fact that I know the developer - I am not going blow smoke. Deep Space Outpost has been released into Early Access (a good while ago now) and is 100% still a GAME IN DEVELOPMENT. Niris is a one-man-band developer and he is thoroughly enjoying learning and adding and tinkering and watching his creation grow and I know for a fact that he has so much planned for the game, but it is slowly, slowly catchy monkey. It has to be - he is on his own! I get vibes of what Rimworld or Dungeon Keeper or similar must have been like when the developers were just starting out. But don't get me wrong - at time of review, despite only showing 2.5 hrs of game play at time of review, I have played the game much more than that. If you like builders / management / strategy games - it's well worth it and the other great thing, is that Niris is absolutely open to *all* suggestions for future content - nothing is ignored and everything is accepted as ideas, or criticism, or praise, or w...

Deep Space Outpost: A Stellar Adventure Rating: ★★★★★ In the vast expanse of the steam, Deep Space Outpost shines as a beacon of ingenuity and resourcefulness. This gripping game is a strategic resource management with the charm of droids, and survival. Pros: Resource Management Excellence: Deep Space Outpost excels in resource allocation. Players must carefully balance energy, Metal, and building to survive in the harsh interstellar environment. The scarcity of resources adds tension, making every decision matter. Droids: Our Loyal Companions: Droids play a pivotal role in the game. These AI companions assist with mining, repairs, and exploration. The procedural generation ensures that no two playthroughs are alike. Replayability is high. Strategic Base Building: Constructing and expanding your outpost is both satisfying and strategic. Choose where to place solar modules to optimize power distribution, and turrets defend against cosmic threats. Cons: Learning Curve: ...

I have honestly got no idea what made me buy this EA game, but I am glad I did. It is very basic at the moment, which is to be expected, and I am looking forward to what gets added down the line. I would recommend this one, especially as it looks like (looking at the road map) that this is going to be a very good game.
