Super fun adventure game. Harkens back to the Lucas Arts adventures. A few of the puzzles needed hints and were a little obtuse, but otherwise it was a ton of fun.

I want to love this game so hard. I played its demo forever ago and was excited to buy it to play on my weekend off, but it's got two issues - 1. The largest - Bugs that cause it to hard lock and I can't get past it (The greenroom after tongue twisters - 3x) 2. I *hate* in a point/click when something you can't pick up becomes pick-up-able later on. This means that my original exploration of areas is moot. (The yellow book puzzle). A few of the puzzles are annoying in that they require a specific action (how to actually get door 306 open) when there's other parts of the game where you get automatic cutscenes for extended puzzle solutions (talking to the drunk guy). The inconsistency means I struggle to grasp the puzzle-paradigm. Honestly, I'm really sad.
Lots of fun! The game's problems are problems from the genre, primarily the pixel hunting for specific items that aren't clearly defined. But the hint system is intuitive for those that need it, the writing is entertaining and well acted, and the pixel art is best in class. This is the most successful homage to the campy side of 90s Lucasarts. Better than Broken Age. WAY better than Thimbleweed Park. I think you'll like it if you have an affinity for Day of the Tentacle or Monkey Island.
good
Looks good but the writing is unappealing. I'm not at all interested in these generic characters and the humor doesn't land for me at all. Not my kind of puzzles either. I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to finish this game.
great game!
"Loco Motive" is a classic style point 'n click adventure. It has great pixel art, beautiful close-ups occasionally, fantastic music, a brilliant voice cast, and every screen bobs up and down and sideways slightly to simulate the movement of the Orient- I mean Reuss Express. There's lots to look at, inventory items to collect, many characters to talk to and of course loads of puzzles to solve! It was a brilliant move of the developers to create three playable characters to keep things interesting and new. This reminded me a lot of "Day of the Tentacle", where you have to switch between Bernard, Lavern and Hoagie to solve to puzzles, and exchange inventory items through the Chron-O-John. This is typical adventure game fare, very close to that "Sam & Max" humor. I reached the credits of "Loco Motive" in 10,5 hours. This makes it a good length game, with puzzles that tripped me up but also others that flowed along without much trouble. But the quality of the game remained all the way thro...
Simply a masterpiece. Great storytelling, brilliant voice acting, good animations and general attention to details. It's not really a hard adventure game but it's very engaging, from start to finish. I want more.
I loved this game! As someone who already loved Professor Layton and the Pandoras Box, seeing a detective-game on a train already made me want to play this. And this game did not diassapoint me. Porsitive: + the characters are all quirky and lovable, there really isn't a single character that I didn't like + the story is good and got lots of twists and layers + the fact that you don't play the storylines in chronological order was amazing - I loved it, that I first saw some problems that accured because of things that I did later in the game (but chronologically earlier) + the cooks were so funny, i loved everything that's got to do with the kitchen + the artstyle and design of the game was really pretty (I love pixelart) + the game was funny Negative: - some of the puzzles were a bit hard in the sense that the solution didn't make any sense for me (and even Dirk Chiselton wouldn't let me ask the right questions when I got stuck) - the third storyline was a bit underwhelming compared...
A charming, well-paced comedy adventure with some *spectacular* voice performances. The type of performances that lift the experience of the entire game.
