About This Game

✦ TIMELOOP RPG IN STARS AND TIME'S PROTOTYPE. ✦

START AGAIN START AGAIN START AGAIN: A PROLOGUE (or: START AGAIN: a prologue) is a story driven turn-based RPG where you, Siffrin, are stuck in a time loop for no reason you can find.

The country is frozen in time, and together with your allies you fought your way through the castle and fought the King to put an end to this curse… And you died and found yourself right back at the entrance. Again. And again. And again.

But you’re the only one who remembers it; your allies are none the wiser. And there’s no end in sight.

You're fine though! Hiding your knowledge from your friends is easy! Fighting the same enemies is easy! Dying to the same final boss over and over again is easy!

You have to make sure your friends don't find out about the super fun time travel times you're having though.

They can't know.

They can't.

FEATURES:

 • A story all about how time loops would affect someone and their relationship with their friends!
 • ATB based gameplay! Utilize rock-paper-scissors style weaknesses and strengths to tactically take down your foes!
 • Four "endings" depending on your choices (as in, as in, four different ways the battle against the final boss can go)! Including one True Ending!
 • 3-5 hour playtime!
 • Your friends having fun conversations about crabs while you're in the corner on the verge of a panic attack!

"HOW'S THIS RELATED TO SUPERCOOL INDIE RPG IN STARS AND TIME THOUGH?"

START AGAIN: a prologue is the first installment in the START AGAIN series, but this game is complete and you will not finish it feeling like you only read Chapter 1 of a 1000 page book! This prologue is more akin to a side story, a prototype for In Stars and Time, and stands completely on its own.

Also "prologue" is just a cool word.

I do like this game, however I recommend playing in stars and time first (specifically completing the two hats ending) for story pacing reasons. I played this after isat, so I could be wrong, but I feel like playing this before isat would lead to a lot of confusion, specifically to when this takes place. Its also pretty short sadly

i played in stars and time earlier this year and loved it so much that i knew i was going to play this too. it was weird starting out. it is so similar to ISAT but with small differences in design and mechanics. this took some getting use to and i benefited from taking a break between games. the battles are longer and harder. there is a lot of new art! it is a short story as opposed to novel. so plot and characters are presented differently. i really enjoyed it as its own game but i also liked seeing where ISAT started.

Asinine Inaccessibility: START AGAIN START AGAIN START AGAIN: A PROLOGUE Part of me feels like an effort was made by the dev(s?) to make this prologue to In Stars and Time an accessible experience since options to disable literally flashy mid-battle effects were implemented. Yet, the rest of me knows that, if such a thing were true, then those broken options would have been tested before launch or fixed anytime after this prologue's release date of 11/20/2023.

after reading the manual, i guess it really is more like a side story but even though it was short, it made me extremely invested in the characters and the storyline, i loved it! curretnly putting siffrin in a little jar to protect them, it's a very cruel fate ;-;

If you have played In Stars and Time, this is a really good companion piece, albeit a tad short (would probably take you about 3 hours to complete). Despite being called a prologue, I do recommend playing ISaT first, as that one has more quality of life features, and the prologue isn't that important to the overarching story. Unlike ISaT, I wouldn't say this is a must-play, but if you find it cheap on a sale, it's pretty good
