The Thaumaturge is a prime example of a game that I would give a "neutral" rating to if I could. The presentation is pretty solid, the premise is unique, and there is definitely some heart put into it. The devs here did a good job on the game, and you can tell there is passion. In fact, there is definitely an audience of gamer that I may recommend this to, but I think it's an overall no go for me. I completed the game, and I gave it a decent shot. I got most of the achievements, and I truly enjoyed the first 8-10 hours of the gameplay! It gave me a CRPG mixed with Disco Elysium vibe, and I enjoyed watching the main character fool around in peoples minds. The Salutors are incredible from an artistic point of view, and the first few battles with them were pretty cool! Nailed the art work here... shout out to the art team! The gripe I had is that it sorta lost all the charm after that 10 hour mark. I kept waiting for the plot to build up to something I would be excited about, and it...

About This Game
A hero with a flaw
Wiktor Szulski is a thaumaturge, a master of mystical arts, who can peer into the hearts and minds of others, uncovering their deepest emotions, desires, and secrets. However, his powers also feed into his flaw of pride, which can present him with various opportunities or lead to negative consequences.
Untold mysteries waiting to be revealed
No secret or intrigue is safe when the thaumaturge is around. Your unique abilities will give you a great edge in solving detective investigations, becoming a savvy socialite or even dealing with the criminal underground. Explore the world using Wiktor’s perception, seeking personal secrets hidden in objects, that provide different perspectives on events that may seem obvious at first glance.
Taming mythical creatures
As a thaumaturge, you draw your power from the ability to summon salutors – mystical, folklore-inspired demons that inhabit the ethereal realm. Use their powers to manipulate your foes, sway the minds of allies, and fight opponents in turn-based tactical combat.
Unique turn-based combat
Engage in deep, tactical combat against various opponents – some physical, others more elusive. Wiktor's thaumaturgical abilities let you bend the rules of reality, summoning demons to unleash powerful attacks or gain strategic advantages.

Reminds me a lot of playing the Witcher 1 back in '09, a really interesting setting with great writing and characters that's wrapped in Eurojank. Fun AA experience, but it's not always a smooth ride. Really hope to see the concept further refined in future installments. + Pride system is a very interesting balancing act between feeding your Flaw at the risk of locking out future dialog options and being forced into certain late game paths. Sometimes you have to pick and choose your battles. + The Salutors are all very cool with unique combat niches and are tied to some of the best quests in the game. The serial killer plotline in the slums is a standout. + To collect all the monsters and power-ups you need to be a dick to people, again forces you to engage with the core themes of the game in regards to Wiktor trying to balance his pride and ambition with his obligations to his loved ones and community. - Lack of enemy variety, fights end up feeling very repetitive. I have mixed feeling about this game. It´s easy to see that there was a lot of work put into this game and you really feel set back into Polish history. The lore and mythical figures are very interesting. There is really a lot of potential here. On the other hand, the story just didn´t capture me. Some characters are interesting, but you only get to know everyone very superficially. The game is dark, but plays it safe at the same time. There was never a shocking or surprising moment for me. The gameplay consists mostly in walking around and in some combat that I personally found a bit boring. I think if you really like this setting a lot and slow-burn stories, you might still want to buy it.
The Thaumaturge is a captivating indie RPG that immerses players in a dark, mystical world where alchemy, ancient magic, and intricate storytelling converge. Developed with a clear passion for atmospheric narrative and exploration, the game invites players to assume the role of a gifted thaumaturge — a practitioner of magical arts — tasked with uncovering arcane secrets and confronting mysterious forces threatening the balance of their realm. What sets The Thaumaturge apart is its emphasis on combining traditional RPG elements with a rich lore and unique gameplay mechanics that encourage experimentation and deep engagement with the world. From the outset, The Thaumaturge stands out due to its hauntingly beautiful art style and atmospheric design. The environments are richly detailed, blending gothic architecture, eerie forests, and ancient ruins that evoke a sense of mystery and foreboding. The game’s use of lighting and sound design amplifies this mood, enveloping players in a ...

This Game is a Tactical RPG with deep narrative Dark Mysterious theme set in Warsaw Poland 19th Century which was invaded by Russia during that time. In this game you play the Character of Wiktor Skulski with Magical power that can tame and summon supernatural, esoteric beings rooted in folklore and mythology that may be bounded to him upon capturing. This game is slightly vast and slow paced, your response and decisions will make an impact in a way that different endings can be achieved. This game have more to offer of which you'll surely enjoy. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves western tactical isometric RPG. :Eye_tv: :elexyeah:
Thaumaturge is a pretty decent, albeit rough around the edges, RPG. What makes it stand out isn’t its mechanics, but its worldbuilding and story. As far as RPGs are concerned, I believe it's what you'd expect. Let's dive into more details. Presentation-wise, Thaumaturge is generally fine, though resource consumption is absolutely disproportionate: I often had FPS drops which look totally unwarranted given the graphical level. Character models, animations, and cutscenes are the usual AA level. They work, but there is nothing to write home about. A visual highlight for me is the salutor design. Each of them is very distinct and unique with weird, but catchy, designs. One more thing I also enjoyed are the VAs. The main character was fun to listen to, and his dynamic with the rest of the cast is likeable and occasionally genuinely fun to observe. As for the OST, it is serviceable, but nothing exemplary. Now, as I mentioned, the characters and the setting are the main attractions ...
