Great bite sized rhythm game. The Legend of Dark Witch is a great franchise and I'm glad to be following it still to this day.

It's pretty cute and funny.
Ignore the time in the review. I have over 90 hours on the switch version. I have defeated every boss in the game on every difficulty except Franzer on Lunatic. This was one of my first games on the switch and it's been haunting me since its inception. The knowledge that I'm so close yet so far. Almost every time I open my switch I play Lunatic Franzer once or twice before putting it away again to play the actual game I want in hopes of actually beating it one day. Playing more just frustrates me, makes me play worse, and thus not getting to the parts that I actually need to learn how to do. Notably, the steam version is much more precise. I can tell because it took me far less long to complete every stage and I've gotten farther on Lunatic Franzer than on the switch version. Right before writing this review, I finally got Franzer to red and let me tell you, I never felt so alive and then so utterly devastated by a game in a short period of time. To taste the victory of years of invest...
So I've played this both on the switch and here on Steam, and I have generally enjoyed my time with Rudymical. I do like the Dark Witch series enough, but while those games are typically action platformers in the style of the Megaman series, this game is unique with it's attempt at rhythm elements. I honestly don't think this game is great as a rhythm game, because I felt more of my time was spent focusing on the bosses' attack patterns than the music or rhythm. To me, a great rhythm game such as Rhythm Heaven or Parappa the Rapper has more of a focus on the music than this game does. That being said, I still had a lot of fun with it and think if you can take it for what it is, it's an enjoyable experience. And as to be expected with this series, the art style and characters are super cute still. So if you like the Dark Witch series, I'd say check it out.
Ahh, Rudymical. It's just Dark Witch 2 but with a Rhythm taste to it. Everything about the original platformer counterpart is inside of this game (Minus Rudy's story, After Talk, and Riva not being playable). 9/10 again.
I wish more people knew about this game. I usually get tired of songs really quickly in rhythm games and have difficulties replaying stuff for better score. But in Rudymical I somehow enjoyed every single song/stage and it's fun to replay them over and over again. Some stages have their own unique gimmicks that make them stand out, and some just have fun patterns. Different playable characters have different animations which is neat. Controls are simple and easy to understand, yet they feel different from most other rhythm games. Lunatic difficulty makes me cry because it's too fast for me and is way harder in comparison to Hard difficulty. This game has some flaws, but I love it and would recommend it.
It's the same minigame Darkwitch 2 had, but more levels, higher optional difficulty and more characters that shout 'Ei!". Music and assets are recycled from Darkwitch 2, so the price-point isn't really justified. However I already spent hours in the original minigame and the characters shouting hundreds of times per level is stupid enough for me to be happy with my purchase.
As this seems to be a spin-off of some other games and I bought this without knowing anything, I'm actually feeling complicated when knowing the protag is a cool girl instead of a cool boy And feeling more complicated knowing all of the characters are cute girls
Which is GOOD
A simple rhythm game, but still fun to play and spend time Bought when: -30% ------------------------ Edit 2022.3.6: Pelusa's beat is rubbish ------------------------ Edit 2022.3.13: I feel really bad to change my mind, but eventually decided to change from "recommend" to "NOT recommend" Because it is ridiculous that a rhythm game has no options to set the volume among music, sfx and etc, given that the sfx of enemy throwing the balls could be a huge help and admirable mechanic to the gameplay, while the music was ironically loud which hurts my ears to focus on the minor sfx. And the offset setting function is barely usable, unless you are a musician and have something like perfect offset e...
