Mediocre, but there's some heart there. If you REALLY love Blade Runner, and enjoy simple 90s point & click style games then I'd say to give it a shot. Otherwise, it'll be a generic experience for the average person. So unless you love the source material, or are morbidly curious, then I'd say pass. There's not much to say in terms of the gameplay. It's very standard "point & click" style gameplay; nothing to write home about. The story is pretty generic, cookie-cutter, and at times quite cheesy. The acting is typical 90s video game acting... over the top and unintentionally humorous at moments. The main character is basically Rick Deckard, copy and pasted. The atmosphere is pretty cool. I think they did a good job creating the atmosphere for the game to be set in. It really does feel like the Blade Runner universe. It's very close to the original aesthetic of the film, but has some new locations, characters, and twists in the game to make it more interesting. ...

I decided to revisit Blade Runner, the 1997 point-and-click game from Westwood Studios, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much more than a nostalgic trip. I remembered the vibe, the music, the pixelated visuals—but what I didn’t remember (or maybe never noticed back then) was just how ahead of its time this game really was. The atmosphere is still incredible. That constant rain, the flickering neon, the haunting synth soundtrack—it all drops you right back into the world of the original film. It’s like stepping into a playable version of that universe, and for anyone who grew up watching Blade Runner late at night on VHS, it's like coming home. But what really surprised me was the randomization. Every time you start a new game, certain characters might or might not be Replicants. That changes the story, your decisions, and even the ending. I didn’t expect that level of replayability or unpredictability from a game made in the late '90s. It’s the kind of design choice...

Feels like clicking random things and hoping something will happen. Lots of potential but feels random and full of bugs. I'd only recommend if you love the Blade Runner universe (who doesn't?) and if it is heavily discounted. Other reviews mention that the original version is better.

The A.I. upscaled "enhanced" graphics is terrible. It makes those crisp, pixelated graphics turn into blurry, smudged, undetailed graphics. Not only that, but they didn't enhance the 3D models. So any 3D object (characters) are still pixelated when having the enhanced graphics enabled. The cutscenes are terrible too, again removing detailed textures from the prerendered cutscenes and making them blury. They do give you the option to switch between original and "enhanced" though.

Windows 98, AMD K6-2 CPU, 32MB RAM, NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 32MB VRAM, CD-ROM drive. The game was amazing back then and it's awesome that a new generation get to play this on Steam. NOTE: choose original instead of enhanced option. Although less smooth it is more vibrant. Watch the original movie, play the game.

One of the best point and click games for that noir feeling, an extra fun treat if you like the first movie, as this takes place around the same time. Certain aspects are also random each playthrough and there are a ton of optional interactions so it'll keep you on your toes. Just play on original graphics or else it looks like mashed potatoes.
