Loved the first one, played through it multiple times but having to restart back to level 1 with no inventory carryover or armor or anything really kills it for me, feels like instead of having to add content like more items or balancing the leveling system to slow down the progression they just re-use the same stuff every chapter. Gets very old fast, couldn't even stick with it to finish the game. Would not recommend.

About the Game

Once beloved by her people, Queen Rosomon has turned against her subjects, casting them into servitude in the darkness of Fahrul’s mines whilst building alliances with sinister and malevolent forces.
Gather your party in four player co-op or adventure alone through Fahrul as you risk everything to fight the tyrannical queen and bring an end to her oppressive reign.
From the creators of For The King, the much-loved RPG that blends roguelite and tabletop gameplay comes a new chapter in Fahrul’s history, designed on an updated engine bringing innovation and gameplay refinement for returning heroes and new adventurers alike.

For The King II is easy for anyone to pick up and play, but takes skill, patience, and strategic excellence to master whilst remaining infinitely replayable with a procedurally generated map that ensures no two playthroughs will ever be the same. Unique yet familiar dice roll inspired movement, encounter and combat mechanics add even more spontaneity and variety as your fortunes rise and fall on the roll of the dice.

For The King II provides a complete campaign with over 30 hours of gameplay, split into 5 separate adventures, each narratively linked. The journey is long and the path is treacherous but fear not, if your party fails you will start stronger and wiser on your next playthrough with better starting items to draft into your loadout.

Roll up, roll up! Put your skills to the ultimate test with the infinite dungeon mode - Dark Carnival. Led by the devious Ringmaster, your goal is to conquer as many floors as possible before you meet your inevitable demise. Collect carnival tickets to explore new paths, discover a host of themed rooms and spin the Wheel of Death as you try to escape your fate. How far will you make it through the Dark Carnival?

Traverse Fahrul solo or with up-to three friends in four-player co-op. As a solo player you can control all characters in your party, giving you complete ownership of the campaign map and combat strategy whilst in four-player co-op you must coordinate and negotiate with your party members. Play online multiplayer with your friends controlling your own character(s) or play offline co-op on the same PC. Offline co-op supports multiple controllers; each controller will have input control on everyone’s turn.

Inspired by turn-based classics, For The King II adds strategic depth to much-loved combat mechanics with the new Battle Grid, where movement and position provide you and your enemies with strategic buffs and penalties. Defend the back row by equipping a mighty Tower Shield, push enemies into lethal pools of burning fire, or entangle melee troops with dark magic cast with weapons looted from vanquished foes. The choice is yours!

Fahrul is both beautiful and deadly in equal measure. On your journey you will encounter a wealth of diverse biome environments brought to life in a breathtaking art style. From lush forests, toxic swamps and lava-filled wastelands to pirate (no scratch that!) Merling-infested tropical seas, For The King II transports you deep into the wonders of Fahrul, leading you further than ever before into this stunningly-imagined land of adventure.

Absolutely loving this game. I initially bounced off of it, but It has come a long way since launch. The UI issues are fixed, and the game plays great now. I also really appreciate the controller support. The new characters/classes are a lot of fun, with more diversity compared to the first game. The item and gear selection is also great, with some cool new weapon types to try. There are weapons for each of the 6 character attributes (vitality, strength, etc) so nobody gets left out. You can find that speed-based or luck-based weapon to play around your character's build if you need to, which adds to the variety. Splitting actions into secondary and primary actions has also added strategy to the combat. Tanking is MUCH more viable than in FTK1, since a character can taunt and still use another action to attack or defend. Some characters are built for abusing items, making them a good use of secondary actions as well. The dark carnival and pet upgrades have added even more cool cont...
I personally never liked having to complete chapters in this game to unlock characters since I usually play the infinite dungeon mode with friends. With that being said the infinite dungeon mode feels a lot more boring than the 1st game probably because the store and loot are kinda lack luster. I guess it's like the 3 second rule in video game design where after 3 seconds the player realizes how long time has passed. My party usually goes through several floors and noticing we have not upgraded in equipment. while at the same time not being able to afford the equipment we *DO* want despite not spending money for several stores aside from 1-2 healing items.
Major improvements from the first game, adding the fourth character in the party feels good, the new combat system works and makes sense, it adds some variety. I absolutely love this game, it can be brutally hard and unforgiving, but not in a bad way where I want to un-install and move on, but more of I cannot wait to try a different group of classes. If you liked the first game, buy this one.
10/10 Tons of replayability, super fun gameplay and amazing artwork. There is also a end level that you can play endlessly, if you like to suffer. I honstly don't know why anyway would not provide posative feedback on this game, especially since there is upcoming FREE content as well as DLC. Like, what other game today provides FREE continuious contnet? None, that is the answer.
The game was rough on launch, played at a friends house on PS5 the other day. HOLY COW this game has improved since launch. And I can finally say I think I enjoy this game more than FTK1. Item variety is up, items have interesting stats on them, there's more variety of mechanics in this game, fights can be bigger, more ways to play each class... I'm actually just blown away. There's cool stuff now like dark tomes that let you summon skeletons. There's some really crazy artifact weapons now, friend got a sword that gave him 2 primary actions (2 attacks) This game feels like playing a tabletop RPG. Its great. Gonna be pouring hundreds of hours into this now that its in its current state.
very fun game even without big heads on bird
JUSTICE
It's janky and can be quite slow when playing with friends but I like it. It's also getting free updates. (though there is a paid dlc coming) There's room for quality of life updates though.
Despite what you might read, This game is good. But its also not perfect. The characters are kinda fugly with a lack of character customization beyond backpacks and identifying colors. The mechanics are cool and it innovates on the content of the first game. However, the UI is god awful. We spent a very long time just trying to figure out how to start a campaign using more than one controller. Its not clear who is controlling when. The inability to customize characters concurrently LIKE in THE FIRST GAME is also annoying. We did really start to enjoy the game once we got a handle on the controls and UI. It is a good game. And it feels more like the first than it did initially. We also have had zero issues playing locally but are experiencing consistent crashes in online. We have decided to just not do that entirely unfortunately which forces some friends to drive to our house to play. Please fix. For the price, grab some friends and a few controllers and jump in, its worth your time...
