About This Game

Deadlink is a cyberpunk FPS with roguelite elements. You're an elite operative recruited to the experimental Deadlink project. Pilot an autonomous combat shell, fighting your way through cramped slums, twisted labs, grimy warehouses, and sleek office buildings on a mission to thwart the schemes of the most powerful corporations in the world. Wield a deadly arsenal, upgrade your skills and tech, devastate destructible environments, and slash corporate profit margins — all at the same time.

You are the Corporate Security Agency’s greatest weapon, and it's your job to make sure the corporations and their shady deals are anything but secure. With the team at HQ backing you up, you're tossed headfirst into the fray, where a military operation with plausible deniability can fix things for a fraction of the cost of a hopeless court case.

Every randomized run will be different, but one thing never changes: you will be outnumbered. Get ready to think on your feet as you dash, jump, and use the environment to your advantage. You can't still, not even for a second.

Equip your shell with powerful weapon loadouts. Try out various combinations as you blaze a path of destruction. Want to snipe your foes from a distance, debilitate them with status effects, or just go in guns blazing? Whatever your playstyle, you can find the right kit for the job.

Your enemies have no shortage of bullets and bodies to throw at you. But you're no slouch either. Sure, you might lose a combat shell here and there, but your next one will be even tougher. Start each new run with amped-up skills and deadlier firepower!

Won't become your next obsession, but the loop and mechanics are fun. Lacks depth, but fun for what it is.

Haven't played too much yet but a lot of reviews write this game off after much less time. While you have two starting weapons for each class, you do get access to different heavy weapons if you choose so in a run. Even then, the base abilities and primary weapon of each character are fun to use. This isn't a game that you'll play for hundreds of hours, but it's a short and sweet FPS roguelike that you can definitely get a few dozen runs out of, and that's really respectable. I've had a lot of fun with each of my successful builds. Great gameplay with some cute writing, easy to pick up and play and doesn't demand too much of your time, which I think is needed in the genre.

fun for the first 10 hours but there is not enough verity to justify the grinding it would take to beat :(

I'm getting tired of the Roguelike thing at this point, don't get me wrong this is a good one without a doubt, but I just want to finish a 7 hour campaign start to finish rather than repeating the same few levels over and over until I got enough upgrades to finish it. That being said, the game looks really good. The visual style, the matrix effects and even the music and sound design are top notch. The classes also give you a good mix of playstyles which all feel well thought through. You get two weapons each run, one with infinite ammo and a stronger one with low ammo you need to pick up on the map. You get a grappling hook to move around faster or drag enemies towards you. You also get a special ability that changes for each class (shockwave, dummy, turret). Time to finish: ~10 hours

Every class of "shell" has its own play style related to their abilities and load out, after you figure out what that style IS the game finally becomes fun. Good luck grinding those hub upgrades, the game can be ridiculous without them, they're quite expensive too. I know I'll keep coming back to this on and off, if you get Deadlink get it half off and try not to pull your hair out on those first couple of runs.

This game is actually incredible. The amount of care and details put into this roguelike where they didn't have to and could've easily cut corners is actually so heartwarming after playing so much slop from greedy game devs. definitely heavily recommend as it's my current favorite roguelike, and am looking forward to these devs future projects.

Calling this a roguelike/roguelite doesn't really capture what's going on here. Deadlink has a familiar loop, but... with guns! You progress through each zone/map, collecting upgrades for your frame. There's a reasonably steady drip of upgrades and new robot wossits for you to take into the field. Lore-wise it's pure cyberpunk, but with a vibrant almost anime aesthetic. It's like Ghost in the Shell decided neon tights were where it's at. It plays smooth and runs great. If I had one complaint it's the lack of a multiplayer/group finder. I'd like to play this with other people as that would maximise the vibe and absurdly good gunplay.
