About the Game

BITGUN is a top-down action roguelite with lots of blood and guns. Go on missions and kill hordes of zombies. Guns break quickly, make sure you bring enough ... but not too many because if you die, you'll lose everything. Dodge zombies jumping at you or crawling out of the ground and fight your way towards the zombie boss. Every enemy you encounter is ready to kill you in just a few seconds.

 • Very difficult and satisfying combat you can learn and master!
 • Hordes of zombies to kill - regular zombies, slow zombies, ranged zombies, exploding zombies, zombie spiders, zombie bosses, you name it!
 • A LOT of blood everywhere! Are you lost? Just follow your blood trail!
 • Guns to loot, guns to upgrade, guns to repair!
 • Punishing and challenging gameplay - you lose all your gear when you die, guns have limited durability and break often.
 • Random stats for weapons and enemies.
 • Jumpy AI.
 • Retro hand drawn pixel-art look with cutscenes and comics.

 • 9 regular missions.
 • 2 special missions.
 • Several quests.
 • Steam achievements.

It's okay-ish top-down shooter with it's own set kind of problems. The main would be lack of any kind progression(sorry, weapon upgrades doesn't count) as for now. THE GOOD: - fast paced gameplay - good feel of shooting things - music - it doesn't pretent to be anything more than it should be(story-wise) THE BAD: - lack of any kind of progression; no chlvls, no perks, no ressurect bonusses - the death doesn't mean anything, you just die, loose everything(except upgrades) and that's it. It works for complex titles like Project Zomboid but for smaller games there must be some kind of hook for player, if there's none then what's the point of going back with nothing to same dungs all over again? it's tagged as roguelike/roguelite but i'm not sure why either - spiders are barely visible even after latest updates in dark areas - weapons feels kind of unbalanced when it comes to raw numbers for range/dmg - you can buy armor upgrade but not actual armor in camp?... wth I would...

Not a roguelike/lite in any way. No randomly generated levels, no actual permadeath, you just loose your equipment and get sent back to base if you die, big whoop, the equipment was probably mostly gone by the time you died anyway because most guns break in a few minutes of use. You are never forewarned if a gun is about to break, so spent all your money upgrading a gun? Too bad it's gone forever just as quickly as a trash variant of the weapon. This isn't the only place where the game lacks feedback however, the combat lacks any feedback other than blood splatters there's no knockback on anything and you barely notice when you get hit yourself. The different enemy variations look almost identical and their stats are randomized so something that usually takes one shot might suddenly take ten with no visual indication that it's any different.

Fun little game. The only annoyances are zombies are sometimes hard to see and I lost my cursor sometimes.

Great top-down shooter, the combat feels very smooth and the music (synthwave vibes) is amazing! The ability to destroy the blocks of the walls in indoor areas is very creative, and it's fun to find different ways through the cave each time you farm it for money. The one downside is that you will probably end up doing a lot of farming to complete all the areas since it takes a while to get enough money for good armor and weapons, especially if you die.

Right before I entered the cave, I thought "I should've brought more medicine and guns" After a few minutes, "Not bad. I think I can clear this" Then, died and re-spawned with nothing. Awesome.

Blood, p.s. what is this music? I still haven't turned it off? I would say it's cyberdysto. Is that actually a thing.

This is fun. It's pretty darn good for a two person indie team. I don't have any complaints except it seems like the little camp is running quite a predatory business. You are doing all the work and they are charging quite a bit to upgrade, repair and buy. They want money more than they want to survive the zombies!

Fun game, great combat and cool art style. I wish the guns were a little more varied, I'm on mission 4 and just now found a sniper. Up until now had still been rocking the original pistol, smg, shotgun combo. I wish there were more powerups or abilities to buy for my character. The armor didn't feel really worth it, I was getting about as far each mission with or without it and it was really expensive to buy and lose. I wish there were cheaper things to buy that would modify other attributes. My favorite part of the game was the horde mode. The game feels "right" on that mission. Some of the campaign missions feel a bit like a map with monsters just standing waiting for you, but horde mode everything just clicked better. I hope you expand on that more in the future. Overall a fun game, and recommended if you're looking for a top down with adequate difficulty and good shooting.
