A story driven game that starts off feeling like a Cronenberg movie about the anxieties of getting older but swerves more in the direction of The Collector (1965). The story has its ups and downs but the dialogue never lulls and the characters are mostly consistent throughout the story; changes in character's personalities never feel forced as the changes occur in context of what is happening in the story, Gloria's behaviour due to her predicament are very believable and the mysterious "Bob" is both sympathetic and sinister throughout. The art style is also very detailed and its obvious a lot of work was put into designing the various environments which range from strange voids to dilapidated cities with a touch of body horror mixed in. I recommend the game if you are looking for a story driven horror game and don't mind minimalistic gameplay.

About This Game

Decarnation plunges you into a haunting, dreamlike adventure where reality and fantasy become one. Inspired by some of the most influential surrealist works (Silent Hill, the original tale of Alice in Wonderland, films by David Lynch and Satoshi Kon...), allow yourself to be swept away by an intense and mesmerising story, oscillating between dreams and nightmares.

Gloria is a cabaret dancer at the end of her rope. As her career, relationships and self-esteem begin to deteriorate, a mysterious patron makes her an offer she couldn’t possibly refuse. Will this event mark the end of her recent struggles , or the beginning of her descent into hell?
Decarnation is a story of survival, where monsters and nightmares weave themselves into the fabric of everyday life. Get ready for a poignant and captivating adventure!

With a wide variety of mini-games, Decarnation expertly brings together the classic elements of horror and adventure games, where each challenge requires consideration, responsiveness and coordination. Solve cryptic riddles, confront ominous enemies and explore a bewildering world...

Decarnation's Rêve and Cauchemar soundtracks feature contributions from numerous artists, including the renowned composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) whose works blend horror and the paranormal, breathing life into this nightmarish tale.

Really love the storyline! Decarnation is a game with a really good storytelling, character building and world setting, leaning more towards the thriller (slightly horror-ish but that's not the focus) genre. Just what I was looking for :)
I got this game because visually it looked relay cool. I was not prepared for the story! It was dark and twisted and I loved it.
A few words for anyone who want to experience the game. Well, the puzzle is not that hard. At least I don't have to do maths here. If you're aiming for the rhythm achievements just know that you gotta do it a bit later than the circle on the screen. Some achievements won't pop until you press continue on the main screen after done with everything. For the story, I still be like "what the f is going on" even when I'm done with it. Kinda suffocating but eventually you find the peace. I enjoy the soundtracks a lot, even if I don't really understand a word. Give it a try, a bit of exploring, puzzle and walking simulator at some parts but all went well for me.
This game was a phycological masterpeice. If you are interested in woman's studies or are a feminist theorist, then this is the game for you. It was so good that I played it straight to the end without stopping.
the puzzles are too hard for me
That is good. It will teach you a lesson.
