About This Game

Iko is an aspiring yet hopeful warrior exploring the land and sky to reunite a series of floating islands. With his rickety airship, he must travel from island to island in order to reignite each one’s magnetic core while fighting off the many adversaries standing in his way.

Islets is a surprisingly wholesome metroidvania about making connections with the people around you. By reuniting the islands and befriending a cast of charming characters, the world expands and reveals new parts of each area for Iko to explore. Scour every nook and cranny in order to collect the many upgrades hidden around this world and face its numerous hidden challenges!

There’s also a tour guide to show you around, but you should be careful. The guy’s got some really weird vibes...

Features

 • Connect the islands like a puzzle to discover new ways to explore previous areas and reunite the vast world around you.
 • Fight back against terrifying monsters and ruthless sky pirates in epic boss battles.
 • Discover upgrades to help you on your journey by completing challenges and uncover the islands’ many secrets.
 • Make friends with a wide cast of charming characters—including a pretentious warrior classmate, a suspiciously friendly frog, and so many others.
 • Become immersed in a visually stunning hand-painted world with lush, vivid environments for you to experience.

I love this game to death, perfect entry level metroidvania, has an incredibly cute art style and the story while not super complex or long, hell not even a lot is said, still made me feel a little empty inside when it was finally over, the characters are adorable and the ending is really wholesome and heartwarming. I did 100 percent this game including completing boss rush on hard and doing it without dying which is a real pain, if you spam ground slam on the non flying enemies and especially the final boss its doable, and for some reason when you're in the act of doing ground slam you can't even be damaged. All in all the 20-ish hours I spent playing this game was well worth the 10 dollars I spent on it, and even if you buy it at the full 20 dollar price tag, I still think it's well worth it, 9/10 really looking forward to playing Kyle's other games.

Nice quick game that is not too difficult with wonderful NPCs. Worth your time to check it out, and if you are new to the metroidvania genre a great introduction. Side note: The idea of the map pieces being put together is really cool.

I played this in anticipation of Kyle’s next game, and I’m even more excited now, but maybe not for the reason you’d think I’d be. This game is like, in almost every way a downgrade from crypt custodian (my first Kyle game). The layout of the rooms feels boxy and arbitrary, the multiple routes often just feel extra (if often go one direction and then loop back the other way to check out if I missed anything and there’s literally just two ways to get to the same spot), the combat feels less engaging, and as someone who likes to complete stuff (I collected all the little collectible upgrades before hitting this point) the second and third to last bosses were completely steamrolled by me (playing on hard mode) to the point that I didn’t even know their attack patterns for the boss rush afterwards. The world building is also more iffy, it’s hard to ignore the dissonance between the islands ripped apart and the “hub world” both in scale and in the fact that we’re suppos...
Dah's Game Score

85/100
Exclusively Played on Steam Deck OLED. Runs Perfectly at 60 FPS. 8+ Hours of Battery Life. Islets is a chill and fun metroidvania. I absolutely love the art style. Funny dialogue between memorable NPCs. Music is good. Movement flows well. Good platforming. Combat is simplistic, yet fun. Exploration is good. Difficulty is mild to moderate for a more relaxed experience. Islets is a clear upgrade over the developer's first game Sheepo. Everything it does, it does right. Most importantly its fun! Looking forward to the next game by this dev!
