About This Game

Vacancy Unlimited is a comic book styled retro FPS. Roam the streets of your home town in search for your father. Access multiple mana based abilities as you level up killing zombies. Complete locations to gain access to new areas on your city map. Loot buildings for ammo, food, and new weapons. Level up and use skill points to improve and gain new abilities.

Beware, the ravagers roam the streets as well. Ravagers sometimes in groups or as individuals are survivors that have their own agendas and behaviors. Vacancy Unlimited features an AI director that manages zombies spawns and loot drops. The game will feature side objectives in each location for chances to get extra EXP and loot. Weapons and abilities scale as your level increases. Unlock new levels on your city map by playing through the story. Replay any level to improve your completion stats and to farm for weapons and EXP. Your city map will mark your progress for each level.

This game takes place in the Apastron universe.

Vacancy Unlimited is a classic example of why you should never judge an independent game by the cover. However crude its art assets might appear, VU plays tightly, has a surprising interesting setting (which makes me want to check out the other game’s in the dev’s ambitious expanded universe) and a broad selection of weapons and mission objectives to complete. There are rough edges, mostly around the explanation of its game mechanics - I had to replay levels a couple of times to figure out what my objectives were and what they looked like - but after a few introductory stages you settle into a really pleasant groove, and can concentrate simply on levelling up, unlocking skills and sampling a frankly staggering selection of guns. It looks cheap, and at £2 it is cheap. But it’s the best fun I’ve had on that budget. Vacancy Unlimited doesn’t overstretch but it still managed to exceed my expectations. Support a dedicated and experimental dev, pick it up for less than a coffe...

First things first, do not let the graphics fool you, underneath the Microsoft Paint aesthetic lies a damn good , though short, Retro FPS. The controls are super tight, shooting feels good, movement is fast, and you get a grapple hook. Best $3 I’ve ever spent. While my playthrough only lasted a few hours, it is worth saying that this was not a 100% run. Each level you enter on the map has a set of objectives for you to complete, which isn’t made obvious at first, but once you play a few levels you start to see what you need to 100% a level, involving taking out big enemies, and interacting with glowing parts of the map, before finishing the level, I could have added a couple more hours going back and finishing up levels I missed objectives on. It’s a simple game, has a simple experience system with a simple skill tree. It’s a simple and short game, but 100% worth your time to try out. Also worth noting is the sheer amount of weapons you have to choose from. While you can only...

The Story is horribly convoluted and I lost my favorite weapon due to a glitch... But like, it's so pure, you know? It feels like I'm playing some dude's vision. It feels like a guy wanted to make a game and did it. The combat is surprisingly fluid, the gunplay is fun, it's got a grappling hook... It's got stuff going for it. Like c'mon. It's $3 off sale, just try it. It's a nice snack.

really really well made for an indie game the game play is pretty fun and doesn't get too repetitive depending on what you choose to have in your gun slots and skill slots it could use some more upgrades to add more spice and different routes you can take. theres a pretty big selection of weapons to use in the game. i like the art style and simplicity of the game too

Fun, just like Apastron was. If you liked that, then you can't go much wrong here. This is clearly a dev that loves what they do and just wants to make some super-cool, dope little games. I can't wait to see more! PS, if you haven't gotten Apastron yet, why don't you? : )

This is a fun game, but a hard game. You'll find yourself pleasantly challenged and enjoying this fantastic old school/new school blend of FPS. Developer needs to include a damage locator to let us know where the enemy is shooting us or hitting us from though. Without it, the game's difficulty is brutal. I'm eager to see a more refined version of it. I'm also going to check out the dev's earlier work.

Nice little shooter but I would wait for it to leave early access. I think I reached the end of the avaible content, because I have all the achievements and what remain of the map doesn't unlock even tough I leveled a lot, which is a shame considering I wanted to complete the story but even then it's a pretty nice start. Constructive criticism : I think it would be cool if the first level would teach us what the objectives are exactly, because I had to guess a lot.

Really good fast paced shooter with lots of guns. the guns animations are also well made. gameplay can become repetitive at some point but its still a lot of fun.

Found the game on Moddb, and Wishlist it immediately. Just bought it like 2 hours ago, and spent some time to play. I do recommend you to try it out since it's cheap as hell. Raw, a bit unpolished in designs, but overalls can be improved. Here is the list i made as a feedback: - Need abilities description on the location choosing tab - Need ability cool down icon in game. HUD preferable - Need the instruction since the gun reload doesn’t save remaining ammo in the magazine which can confuse players - Need mission description and indicator on the mini map, or it’s better to create a compass in the HUD - Optimizing is a bit meh. - Need to make the light circle aka the mission destination circle a bit clearer. It’s a bit too dim in my opinion ( don’t need to take this seriously) - Dash skill is a bit too OP. The distance imo is a bit too far. Make it shorter and maybe add in a grappling hook as a weapon will make the player considering different play style. It’s better if at ...

I've enjoyed what I've played so far. Vacancy Unlimited is made in the Unity engine, and as of day one of launch, is still in a rather primitive state, with a fair amount of placeholder art and missing some sound effects - as expected of an early access title. The soundtrack is enjoyable to listen to, reminds me of Duke Nukem 2 and Wrack. The gameplay has a nice balance of relaxing as you search for weapons and ammo before the frantic hordes come upon you (usually in tight spaces) just before the end of the level. Rounding a corner before being ambushed by several gun-wielding enemies usually means your death, leading these engagements to be the most tense. The core gameplay loop involves: 1. Find chest/crates with random weapon/ammo/health pickups 2. Avoid/kill zombies around the map 3. Find the harder gun-wielding enemies and kill them 4. Find the mini-boss "ravager" enemies that take a lot of hits and deal a lot of damage 5. Find these light shrines on the ground that spawn enemi...
