About This Game

Experience the Murder Diaries

In Murder Diaries you abstractly follow the narration of a young man through his life and his thoughts. This leads you straight into a murder mystery unlike you have ever seen before.

Figure out what happened, explore fascinating landscapes and abstract environments and enjoy the thrilling storytelling. Collect pieces of the story while freely floating through related environments and immerse yourself into an intriguing story filled with blood and murder.

A must have for any true fan of thrillers and anyone how enjoys a murder mystery that goes beyond the normal story telling.

How does the gameplay work?

You will play as a free-floating ghost like creature.
Basically, as the soul of someone who is experiencing the story.
You are very small in comparison to the surroundings and can fly freely through the area.
You start by exploring the area and enjoying the feeling of flying as well as the gentle yet mysterious background music.

Soon after starting to explore, you will find the first memory piece.
You can collect the memory pieces to continue with the story and to advance with the overall narration.
The story talks about a young boy, about his live and about how everything changes. It is setup as a thrilling murder mystery and acts as a contrast to the somewhat calm and enjoyable gameplay.
You fly towards another memory piece and collect it.
Once you collected the memory piece a nearby book opens and a couple of words are floating out of the book.
Just like that the environment will often react and reflect on the advancing story and will abstractly represent some of the things that happen in the story and that are on the mind of the young boy.

The first levels are quite straight forward but the further you advance the more surreal and abstracted the levels become.
Once you have finished a chapter by collecting all memory pieces and finishing the overall story of a level you will continue into the next chapter.
There are 16 chapters in total and each abstractly represents the story part that you are currently experiencing and has its very own theme and twist to the story.

"Murder Diaries" is a short narrative game that, unfortunately, fails at almost everything it tries to do. As someone who loves narrative games (and plays a lot of them), I would regard this one mostly as a waste of time and money. The story is so short and pointless that it's impossible to talk about it without "spoiling" anything, but it's also so predictable that I don't think knowing the plot changes anything for potential players. There is no revelation, no twist, and no attempt to make the story even remotely interesting. So here's the synopsis: It's about a young man who grows up under difficult circumstances, sees his father and brother getting killed by rival gangs, and then meticulously plans his revenge and eventually murders the killer. That is literally the entire story, there's nothing more to it. This story is narrated to you by the protagonist itself in 200 voiced lines that are drip-fed to you, with pauses after each line, over the course of 2 hours. Most of these li...

I did not expect this, from a game that costs so cheap! Atmospheric detective game. Flying and looking for clues, goes in the same breath. Nice music and relaxing gameplay. Definitely worth playing.

A detective genre game in which you investigate crimes. The game has a well-chosen soundtrack, nice graphics, the game was played in one gulp. I really liked it, an interesting idea and a great reaction 8.5/10 I recommend

An unusual idea, but at the same time very exciting. That's what make this game unique. I mean content-plot, it is not just a short story. MOREOVER, while playing you are getting more and more new adventures. Our task is to collect some fragments of the story and finally investigate murder. Pros: interesting plot, good graphic, well-chosen soundtrack Cons right now can't be noticed by me, i might played too little time to notice them. And to conclude, this game is something unusual, not like others one. Really good one to spend free time

i completed all 3 of the games on Xbox i enjoyed them that much that i'm now starting them on PC :) you are basically in control of a butterfly (i think it is lol) and u have to fly it into the rings which tell the story. the rings are easy to find & see if you like murder/crime then you will be surprised with this little gem :) also the music is my favourite part of the game :)

having gone through the game I can say that the killer was a repulsed lunatic, but he had his own special reasons for doing dozens of murders. It is an unusual experience for me. On the one hand it is an uncomplicated adventure game in which we have to fly through each level to get to the next location, but on the other hand it takes the form of a tour where we can examine the places where these gruesome events took place and learn about the details of the incident. The game is creepy and so if you're not ready to tell this creepy story then you don't have to play it. It's a very unusual story with: Good graphics Interesting and creepy locations I like it. 20% off But it's a one night game. I see no reason to play it a second time (!)

I wouldn't even call this a detective game. All players do is guide a little ball around to trigger narration. It's more obnoxious than a walking simulator because the ball you're guiding around is hard to control. There's not work or thinking you have to put into this.

You maneuver a perpetually moving ball of light through glowing rings in space. One line of narration is read per ring collected. If you miss the ring on the first pass you have to maneuver to get turned back around to retrieve it (using keyboard controls this wasn't always a very quick or easy route). Also not always intuitive WHERE the next ring in the story is located so you float aimlessly around, going through walls of buildings and getting thrown back occasionally when you hit the boundary of the game. Not for me. Didn't finish. Don't recommend.

It's a shame that the plot is linear and it's not an open world. But on the other hand I enjoyed the gameplay, although it is not very diverse. + Convenient controls + controller support (I played it on him) - Achievement monotonous. No interest in getting them to decorate your showcase profile - I need more new levels From Earth To Heaven. EpiXR Games UG makes some good games, but Murder Diaries is not a perfect game or the studio's best game. Yes, it's a whole new level for them, but I like their previous game From Earth To Heaven better. It's all about tension. I love adventure games, but right now I have mixed feelings.... Bottom line: Murder Diaries is a pretty good game, but it has flaws that I've decided to share with you. P.S I am not a full-fledged critic or professional indie game reviewer, so please do not judge these words harshly. My rating is 5.5\10 But only because 5.5>5 and Steam has not yet given the opportunity to put neutral ratings so I put a positive mark (upf...
