About the Game

Our story begins in one corner of Allraan, a tapestry of nations with diverse cultures and values.
By dint of sword, and by way of magical objects known as “rune-lenses,” the land’s history has been shaped by the alliances and aggressions of the humans, beastmen, elves, and desert people who live there.

The Galdean Empire has edged out other nations and discovered a technology that amplifies the rune-lenses’ magic.

Now, the Empire is scouring the continent for an artifact that will expand their power even further.
It is on one such expedition that Seign Kesling, a young and gifted imperial officer, and Nowa, a boy from a remote village, meet each other and become friends.

However, a twist of fate will soon drag them into the fires of war, and force them both to reexamine everything they believe to be right and true.

Needs a x2 , x3 speed key. Would shave off 70% of the time spent playing the game, making it far more enjoyable.

Eiyuden is a game lacking in QoL, skill clarity, character customization, challenge and difference between its myriad party members. It's barely mediocre with mods on (to fix the difficulty, clarity AND the bad translation). This game is the poster child for what is wrong with modern JRPGs, a genre that refuses to innovate and is stuck on 1996. (And I don't mean the turn based combat or the graphics, because those are the redeemable qualities for this title). If you are willing to mod it, buy with a deep discount and use the mods on Nexus. If not, stay clear.

Honestly, I loved Suikoden as a child. This game has all the flair and none of the charm. Combat is a slog, and everything else about the story is unremarkable. The characters are interesting enough with decent voice acting. I can only recommend this for die hard "oldie" JRPG fans.

Terrible game. It's impossible to become attached when there are so many characters all with almost no back story or inspiration. All the screwing around for no reason. All the bloat. Magic is meh. Miss-able characters. Not even going to play the story from the other two's perspective.

this game is an unexpected gem. I am loving every bit of it if you played octopath traveler and the OT2 then you will love this

Do not buy unless you have a controller. In all my years of gaming, I have never come across such an awkward, inorganic set of key bindings. Really tried too, but it's literally the worst. R opens map, map camera controlled with 'ijkl,' esc doesnt do anything, you have to hit backspace to close every menu, and the menu is y. It's like they got bought out by Big Controller or something.
It is not like Suikoden games. It is more like Octopath game with many characters
Disappointing story, no deep suikoden like story. No clear use of primal lens in gameplay. Disappointing gameplay. The battle using SP and complicated rune lens. Expecting batlle game play like suikoden 3 or 5. Bad war gameplay and unclear duel mechanic. Expecting for suikoden 3 or 2 war and duel. Disappointing main character with no strong background only busybody meddler character. The character doesnt have any deep connection with anything. Dungeon and castle just too vast not like suikoden games. No memorable sound track.

I recommend it but only begrudgingly. Mostly because I want a second Eiyuden but they MUST do better on the next one. Why? Well, let me tell you: It has all of the classic Suikoden staples but fumbles the landing on every single one just about. The only true upgrade is the combat system is amazing, the trading is top notch, and the graphics are beautiful. Everything else just feels lackluster or downright bad to meh. The story, despite probably being longer than any previous suikoden game, never feels very strong. Like, the stakes just dont feel like they did in the others. Everything feels very juvenile. Ive seen a lot if people making excuses for this but the fact is there was no need to tone down the serious nature of the story. I played the original 2 suikoden games at 11 years old and the story wasnt so serious that I couldn't grasp it. There was no need to dumb/numb things down to the point they did. The war battles... omg the war battles. This is by far the worst war system o...

I'm fine with the spiritual successor vibe, but a lot of the characters just stop and don't even contribute past their voiced lines. It tried so hard to be Suikoden that it doesn't try to do anything for itself. There was a lot of potential here, and we're given DLC to expand on it when I'd rather get the story and experience for the base cost. Got it on sale, and still not pleased with the grind and need to auto battle my way through the game.
