not adding multiplayer even tho it's by far the most requested feature is one thing. going out of your way to shut down fan made multiplayer mods is another 💔

A bunch of things were promised for this game and nothing was given. I've waited almost 3 whole years for this game to add more slimes, add more progression, add a story, and so much more. But they're now announcing full release where they haven't even given us most of the content the old game. I wish I could even say it's as good as the old game, but it barely even feels like a game. I've seen more content in tech demos than this and I've seen a faster development from a one person team. Overall I feel more like I've been duped of my cash than anything. I hope that it follows the same tracks as other games that promised much more than they could give and slowly gets more and more updates that make it what it was promised to be, but until then. I want my money back.
Good game. Only thing I want is a minimap, because I'm directionally challenged and don't like the inconvenience of taking my map out every few seconds.
Those of you who played the original game might be tempted by this, but the game seems to be very different. Only 1% of your time in game will you be thinking about anything slime-related. The rest is spent painfully grinding for resources that you need to accomplish literally anything, from getting upgrades to building things. This is a clear downgrade from the resource harvester system of the original game. Not to mention just how rare the resources are. In my 12 hours playing I acquired a single "strange diamond" which is required for many important ugprades and basically half of the teleporter systems. If you enjoy that kind of first person resource farming/ugprading game, this is for you. But this is NOT a ranching simulator in any way!
as of now the game is absolutely amazing, im very exited of wht will come soon in the next update
Played a good amount of the first game and had a great time. I like Slime Rancher 2, but there's a lot working against it. Having slime science from the get go is nice, but at the same time the requirements read like a laundry list of unattainable items. Deciding whether to sell plorts or to to use them for crafting/science is not a great feeling. You can buy nearly everything you want pretty early on, and the only motivation you have from there on is to get all the slimes for the sake of doing it, or to get a bunch of decorations. Since the map is really big, portals and warp stuff are pretty important, otherwise you'll be bumbling around with a full vacpac full of 3 berries and some pocket lint, having all the cool new stuff dangled in front of you while you schlep back to your base. Don't get me wrong though, if you liked the first game it's still worth a shot, but personally I prefer the first game.
The new slimes are the only reason I have kept playing this game I don't really like it the first one is way better but hey new cute slimes so thats fun I have hundreds of hours in the first game on console and recently have started playing it on PC I love it but this one it fell short of expectations almost immediately
getting slime science right away was a bit disappointing its one of my favorite things in the first one but now it feels so boring because its just there not something you have to work for I also hated constantly having to chose between using plorts for money or for upgrades
It felt exhausting almost immediately with no point to the grinding i
If you’ve already put a lot of hours into the first one or beaten it, you’ll just get bored playing this. “New beautiful graphics” and…? It’s just sucking up and hoarding slimes all over again. I wanted something fresh, I’m already tired of this formula. This game made me realize that if your favorite game gets a sequel, it’s not worth it, because it’s just the same thing all over again.
This is the perfect successor to the first game. Can't wait for the full release. 23/09/25
the game is so good and it got me back into the slime rancher franchise! ABSOLUTLEY would recommend!
