My review may be biased due to my connection with the creator, however I feel confident saying that this game has the potential to become a great and very popular rhythm game. The premise is simple, and the game is quite simple to start learning. Personally I think the learning curve for the first few levels is just about right, requiring a bit of time to learn the basics, and to polish until the final level. Overall I would recommend the game to people that are looking for a new and interesting rhythm game, and especially so if the game continues to be developed. gameplay: 9/10 creativity: 10/10 song selection: 5/10 graphics: 8/10

While I am credited for the creation of the glorious hidden song at the end of this game, I'd still like to write an honest review. Beat Defender has a TON of potential. I was genuinely shocked by some of the nuance in its design and I was impressed with some of the ideas it brings forth. The lane system is fun, the fact that arrows are made optional but still integral is cool, the boss fight was a neat idea, and the mechanic of your button presses having endlag added a bit of stress to some of the tracks. However, this game certainly has some flaws. The lack of a visual timing indicator for officers and arrows makes some songs a bit awkward on the first couple of tries. The aforementioned endlag, while cool, presents a few somewhat cheap feeling moments in the boss fight in which you can't change lanes in time if you mess up even a single block, leading to massive damage. Maybe keep the endlag, but allow it to be cancelled with a lane swap. That way, it would still add tension to stri...
Gaem gaem GAEMING! The game follows a silent protagonist with no known name or history who slashes threats who try and invade homeless camps in the city. Other than that, the game has no real story (though I imagine that a story might be implemented later on.) The game's hybrid of rhythm and hack n slash makes the experience unique and enjoyable. However, there are times where the game felt cheap as there was a stun that didn't allow me to move to another part of the map. As for the final boss, he is 100% supa sick. However some of his indicators could be more visible as it took me a sew tries to understand what I was supposed to do. As for the game's aesthetic, its very melancholic, which serves to reflect the homeless issues that plague modern society. These are little issues that I'm sure will get ironed out as the game continues its progresses in its journey and I see something great if the game gets polished in the coming months.
The game is pretty fun, has good visuals, a great premise, and donates the developer profits to charity, like what more do you want? There are some areas that the game could use more polish, though it seems that is being worked on actively.
