God damn it hurts to put a negative review for this one. While the idea and concept is amazing, the execution and realisation is suboptimal at best. The writing is boring and "in your face" type and the gameplay boring and repetetive (feels like a drag on the last chapter). Random encounters are mostly shallow and boring and the poor writing is just glaring there too. Do not get me wrong, I have enjoyed the experience and the vehicle roster of the game, their controls along with absolute banger of a soundtrack. The game has solid package and doesnt completely fall flat due to it being rather short but all I mention above does spoil it quite a bit, oh yeah and a braindead AI just wouldnt make it better either. In conclusion I just cant help myself but voice my disappointment as I expected interesting mix of road movie and a rogue like type of game, yet received big fat half-baked nothing burger with a burned out tyre smell... Depressing performance out there, Jackalope

User Reviews
I purchased this game when it first released, despite me posting this review WAY later. But I just have to say that it was totally worth it! Would 100% reccomend for anyone, even if you aren't all that into driving games, as the entire game doesn't revolve around just driving, but the stories and the people you face during the journey. I would say the full price might be a little too much for some people (I personally think the game was worth it), but you should definitely get this game if it's on a sale. One thing I want to criticize is
the way that the entire story gets revealed only on the last chapter, leaving the other chapters as mere filler with little to no story progression.
Otherwise, I find this game to be very enjoyable, whether if you like driving fast on country roads, engaging in police chases or high speed races while avoiding trafic to the best of your abilities, or the management of resources during the interstate travel of the Jackalope, or...
+++ Amazingly fetching visual presentation. +++ Compelling plot and storytelling. +++ Unique and fresh combination of gameplay. --- Overly laborious car controls. --- Questionable replayability. With the frantic and hysterical energy of a Jack Kerouac novel, the stage is set to deliver a captivating narrative in which an American roadtrip meets a roguelike. Clearing all the acts in the story takes roughly 8 hours, supposing that each run is successful on the first attempt. The only low point is the driving controls: the combination of wobbly camera, heavyweight steering, and snap oversteer makes performing precision maneuvers an unnecessarily difficult challenge, and more time is spent fighting against the car's erratic behavior than actually enjoying the ride or focusing on the races. And to have such a state of affairs in a game that is centered specifically on driving?... That, is foundationally criminal.
I enjoyed this game immensely.
It seems interesting! After first session I'm satisfied, will play more for sure!
