A decent enough hex crawler exploration game through a nicely designed desert planet, but unpolished and not a particularly deep experience. Aesthetically, I like this game very much. And this look of things ties into the actual gameplay. When one thinks of a desert wasteland adventure, they might get the idea of barren featureless lands with nothing in them- Sandwalkers is more of a thriving world of deserts and oases, just with too much sun exposure and out of control weather for the populace. Your task is to revive the great tree that once brought life and shade to the world and navigate the wilderness to find fragments. These turns it into a survival simulator (at least in concept) where you need to weigh resource scavenging, plot out routes for the most efficient travel, and so on. This kind of falls off after the first few caravans (you make a new group if the old one gets wiped out, but keep progress) when you get a handle on things and unlock some perks to make the next playth...

Every decade, the Mka tribe sends caravans of adventurers into the Phithi, the meteorological chaos that keeps the Uwando tribes isolated from each other and makes life outside the refuges almost impossible.
Their mission: to establish diplomatic and trade relations, to explore and reclaim the lands left to the mercy of monsters and pirates, and, most importantly, to plant a new tree city that can become a refuge for the Mka and their allies. Regardless of the success or failure of their mission, the caravans must send the memories they have gained back to the capital, using the crystospheres carried by traveling beetles.

A really good game, though it feels quite short. I managed to easily get through the story in around twelve hours, but didn't find much use playing it past then. Worth the price while on sale.
The quality is so bad that I cant even read the text and cant understand the game. The resolution and display settings aren't helping at all and everything is so blurry. When i first launched the game it was fine but when I went to make it windowed instead of full screen it messed up everything and I couldn't read it because it was so blurry. Even after uninstalling and re downloading it didn't fix it. Changing the settings back didn't help either but instead made it worse. I have no clue if its just an issue on my side but no other game has done something like this before. I wanted to play and was looking forward to it and even enjoyed the demo, but the quality made it unplayable.
really great world, cool classes and combat, interesting travel mechanics - and it's missing the 'ick' factor that came with things like curious expedition
