Beat the game first try, fought myself on the second run... and lost. 10/10 Bossfight Tactics is the kind of game where you pick up items and think: "HAHA this is useless" but a few turns later you've somehow created a doomsday device out of a scooter, a katana and a pocket crab. The hook is fresh and unique: when you win, you become the next boss. Which means every victory is basically a meticulously prepared humiliation you've set up for your future self. Nothing is more satisfying than being completely smoked by the perfect team you cooked up in the previous runs. Would recommend if you like tactics, emergent chaos and occasionally losing to yourself in the most hilarious way possible.

About This Game
Become the BOSSFIGHT when you win!
Challenge yourself (literally!) as you try to one-up your previous party each time though this sidescrolling turn-based roguelike.
Outsmart enemy intents in a series of tactical combat encounters while assembling synergistic item builds.
Discover the nuances in this highly replayable game, lovingly designed to minimize complexity and maximize depth.
Items, items, items!
In Bossfight Tactics, it's all about the items; there are no character classes/abilities/stats/etc!
Items let you move, attack, gain passive abilities and much more.
With 100+ unique and quirky items, there are tons of emergent interactions to explore.
Instead of fixed movesets, enemies are equipped with random items which drop as loot when defeated.
Encounters are therefore always unique, often surprising, and sometimes hilarious!
Beware though, enemies grow stronger too as you unlock more powerful items.
Inspired by Into the Breach and Slay the Spire, enemies make their intents known, allowing you to plan and outmaneuver them.
Adapt on the fly by tossing the perfect item to an ally in a critical moment!
Or maybe just lob a bomb toward your enemies?
Other Features
A simple and intuitive interface that welcomes players new to the genre!
Unlimited undos for carefree experimentation and those misclick moments
An optional Auto-Battle button in case your brain has melted from all that strategizing. Also useful for discovering interesting moves. (Kinda like ChatGPT for turn-based tactics.)
No story or cut-scenes; every moment an interesting decision!

Bossfight Tactics is a great game that hooked me from the start. It may look simple but it has the depth and breath of a more complex and intriguing strategy game. Controls are intuitive and the strategic expectation ramps up steadily. The art and music are both cute - I would love to know more about the characters (names) and world lore things, but other than that it's a great indie game that has a lot of heart and I can't wait to see where it will go!
Very chaotic fun and loads of experimental gameplay. It's interesting how the game takes the player's usual tendency to gear up as much as possible before fighting a boss, and then turning it on its head by making those same characters into a challenging end fight. The UNDO concept that appears in some other strategy games (eg. Fire Emblem, Tactics Ogre) is also great to have here - it lets you test out the best scenarios to win a battle, or even just experimenting with different item combinations to see what happens. There's also many items to play around with and combined with the different potential effects, really adds a lot to the replay experience. The gameplay is snappy enough if you just want to sit down for a few quick rounds, and if you're really stuck you can use the AUTO-BATTLE feature to get through just that part. Great game!!
A great strategy turn-based game where you have to consider that your team growing stronger also means that your boss fights will be more difficult. Had fun figuring out some builds like building an AOE damage build by applying global fragile debuff and then using pizzas to deal damage to all enemies. I think another great system this game has is the UNDO feature which makes it very forgiving for beginner strategy players. Personally I make mistakes often and it helps to go back in steps to undo my stupidity, and it gives room for experimentation. All in all, I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a casual strategy game!
Very enjoyable strategic game. Make you think how to defeat the enemies with limited resources and moves. A lot of "I wish I can upgrade my inventory" moments so I can beef up and trade for stronger weapons. Maybe a mobile version soon to play anytime and anywhere 😉
Pretty fun turn base game. The global skill slot is a very interesting mechanic. Everyone including the enemy is affected by it. If we were to switch it to a debuff passive at right timing, it can give us a huge advantage.
if you love turn base and roguelike tactics similar to darkest dungeon, then youre gonna love this one!
Bossfight Tactics is a minimalist turn-based strategy rouge-like but the only minimalist part is the visuals. The game throws you into a set of rules and those rules are applied to everything ranging from enemies, items, NPCs and your own party members. Each rule or mechanic holds its own amount of "hidden depth" where the more you explore the more options you open up. For example,
being able to swap your global item
. This gives a lot of room for min-maxing either for run score or future survivability but it also gives a huge amount of replay value! Would definitely recommend everyone to give this game a go! Also runs great on Steam Deck!
A truly underappreciated game. Very fun gameplay loop with some unique features that really mix up every run, such as global items. First time I got them I thought they were just for me, so I picked some real good ones. Nope, it's for EVERY unit on the field. Everyone running around with bazookas was not great. However, this game gives an unlimited number of undo's, allowing you to go back to the start of your turn. This is a fantastic feature, and is very forgiving. My review will only be the 10th this game has received, which is absolutely criminal, especially for the price. There's no reason to not pick it up.
Simple and fun game, many unique items that can cause several funny loadouts. The auto-battle helps to see potential strategies when I have no idea what steps I can do. The undo feature is great, especially for me who like to save scum and experiment with different strategies without having to worry of restarting. Overall great indie game, minimalistic design, many QoLs and fun mechanics. 10/10!
