More an experience, similar to Little Nightmares but in Nordic folklore. It has it moments but the gameplay is pretty awkward/boring from time to time; the camera is often annoying (2D in 3D), making movement inaccurate, often causing deaths that don't feel fair (and the no damage achievement is just mean). Puzzles aren't really puzzles but more a find-the-key objective. Combining that with a story about 4 hours long, which seems short, yet I wasn't unhappy it was over. Soundtrack and graphics are great, the main character looks a bit plain for a main character, but the bosses are interesting designs In short: not bad but in the same genre there are better games (Little Nightmares/INSIDE), best get this on sale after trying those

Bramble: The Mountain King is a fascinating adventure. Each character you meet on your Nordic expedition is wonderfully designed and will instantly capture your imagination. It combines elements of an under-explored culture in games to create a great fantasy and horror experience. Even though the movement is a little rigid and the game is extremely linear, it manages to deliver a unique experience that will fester in your psyche. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3517080015 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3515918307
For the most part I was enjoying the game, but I couldn't get over the controls as some others have mentioned. They are pretty clunky and also the camera angles made the parkour challenges difficult for me. If smooth gameplay is important to you, I wouldn't recommend this game, but if you can get past it everything else seemed interesting.
This was incredible. Such a creepy atmosphere throughout. It's very similar to Limbo and Inside, but without the side-scrolling element. About 4-5 hours to complete. Be warned that this game has a lot of dark imagery and themes. It also has the cutest gnomes ever.
Absolutely BRUTAL, was NOT expecting the occasional beats my heart would skip playing this game. Great visual storytelling, soundtrack, and folklore!
buy it now u wont regret it best game ive played in a while
The atmosphere is very pleasantly bouncing back and forth between creepy and unnaturally pleasant; it does a good job of being very otherworldly in a way that keeps you unsettled, even when the world is beautiful and pleasant. The gameplay is also simple, but fun, being nearly identical to Little Nightmares, though you have a weapon in this one and actually fight bosses (not too difficult). The platforming segments can be challenging, but not overly so. I'd say this game is perfectly approachable to anyone who is comfortable with creepy games/settings. I wasn't terribly gripped by the story, though I did enjoy it; for me, it took a backseat to the world and the creatures inhabiting it. I highly recommend it if you're a fan of mythology and like the idea of evil faires and fae creatures.
A short but satisfying game with awesome atmospheric horror.
I don’t know about you guys, but my bucket list is stacked with 50–60+ hour epics, some even crossing the 100-hour mark. This was the perfect bite-sized break in between. Graphics : If you’ve looked at the store page, you know what you’re getting. It fits the vibe of the game and doesn’t take away from the horror. Sound : The narrator telling the story is a nice touch. I liked it a lot. The score is awesome too. The bosses, especially the last one, have fantastic music. Gameplay : It’s a platformer/puzzler that’s not too difficult. It has some stealth gameplay and horror elements. I loved the combination overall.
If you love this kind of games this is a solid 8/10 for sure.
I love this game! Even with the horror parts. I bought it thinking of cute gnomes and gnarly trolls, even though I knew it'd be grim. Well, I WAS NOT prepared for what was in this game. I had to stop playing because it was night time, but I guess that was a me-problem. Anyway, loved the folk lore, loved the story, loved our cute friends, but DID NOT love the final boss design. It was not hard, just annoying to get the timing, and sometimes, they just kill you anyway. I hope whoever designed the final boss and Pesta fights will always spend a minimum of 3 hours in fighting any boss. That was NOT cool, man. Story was very good, very immersive; my jaw dropped many, many times. The jump scares got me too. However, control was sometimes clunky, but it was an easy game anyway, barring those two boss fights. Again, not hard, just annoyingly long. I got it at a discount, so it was totally worth my bucks. At full price? Absolutely, too! My rating: 9/10
A simple yet incredibly captivating game. The story and gameplay are absolutely excellent, and it portrays the feeling of fear in the best possible way. The beautiful atmosphere keeps you from ever getting bored, and the game’s diverse levels prevent any sense of monotony. An outstanding 4 to 5-hour experience that makes you want to replay it as soon as you finish. 9/10
