I don't understand it. It has some "game sessions", so is it some kind of rogue-like game?.. Doesn't seem to be a metroidvania at all...

About This Game

Immerse yourself in the dark history of the distant future.
After Shadows is a metroidvania with roguelike elements. You find yourself in a distant post-apocalyptic world, where is nothing left of the former civilization, except for unclear memories, and where humanity has been replaced by bizarre strange creatures. You play as Ana, the half-elf. Dark Monster descended on her village and infected Ana's mother. And now the main character will have to go to the ancient Fortress to find a cure. This Fortress is unexplored and full of dangers. It extends its way beyond the underground — into the terrible primeval darkness. And legend has it that in this darkness a brave adventurer can find both salvation and death.
Game feature
- High complexity
There is no room for the weak in the world of the distant future. Explore the Fortress carefully — death is waiting for you with every step. Do you want to run past that cute bird? You'll die. Did you accidently step on the branch? You'll also die.
- Character development
Every death or victory doesn't pass without a trace for you. A large selection of curses and rewards diversify the gameplay.
- Replayability
The darkness that lives in the Fortress wants to stop you and not let you get to the end. And so you will have to burnish the brain: each time of the game session the path changes - sometimes beyond recognition. Because the eternal night is dark and full of horrors.
- Dark, but attractive world
Examine the strange monsters that inhabit the Fortress. Find those who will help you in your progress — whether it's Water Imp or an old metal robot. Just remember that not all creatures wish you well…
- Charming soundtrack
It will be easier to immerse in the world of After Shadows because of the dark, but attractive music. The frightening, meditative, beautiful and enthralling tracks are waiting for you.
- Attractive graphics
Every stone in the game, every creature, and every texture is created manually. After Shadows has an incredible attention to details.
- Different endings
Choose your path, and get the ending you deserve. No playing along on the developers' part — the gameplay is designed so that it adapts to you, but not you to it.
- The intimacy of the story
We are a small indie team, so we are limited in our capabilities. However, we made best efforts to make the game more interesting and significant for a long time. I hope you will be interested in it!

User Reviews
I like what they were going for. Great art, scary monster, good story line, and the music is on point. I dislike how every time you die you get sent back to the start with a negative debuff. There is no benefit to trying again. Exspectally if you get the "You can't open doors" debuff. It makes more sense to start a new game and try again.
This is definitely not a metroidvania. And this is definitely not an interesting game. Roguelike possible. But you don't raise your power or collect items. Instead of it after each death you accumulate negative debuffs. I didn't understand it at all. Annoying and boring project without decent gameplay. It's like a service-game, but for one player and content free. There is no clear story, just a few plot pictures and a couple NPC lines in a tutorial. Probably, they'll tell it later, but I don't care anymore. It took me 30 minutes to get bored. Ana (protagonist's name) constantly will be chased by the monster, who will prevent you to fix generators. Hello, DbD-like games. Even skill checks here are the same. Because of the sticky control I died many times. I couldn't grab the rope or jump through a cliff. Level design is awful. You can see a sign that indicates down direction. You follow it and die because of a fall from a great height. The chance to this game was given twice. In...
This game has little to no direction in what to do or how to play. The only enemy in the game seem more tedious then not but is still a danger in cases where you can do nothing about it and its hit box, for it attacks, is not well defined. Game threw 8 achievements at me in nearly 30 minutes which just feel like a distraction from how bad the game is.
A very weird, dead by daylight-plataformer-roguelike thing. It's not what i was expecting, and i didn't really find it very enjoyable, but if that description sounds interesting to you give it a try. It doesn't seem to be a bad game, but it wasn't for me.
