About This Game
Spellmasons is a turn-based, tactical roguelike where you use your wit to blend spells and create new combinations. You can play solo or with friends in online co-op!
Discover Clever Combinations
The Spell System is deep and powerful: spells alter each other to allow for tons of creative possibilities. For example: When you cast "Swap" on an enemy, the next spells in the combo will target your original location that you teleported away from so you can link nearby enemies together and follow up with a powerful damage spell that dispatches all of them at once!
Spellmasons rewards variation and creativity: spells get more expensive as you use them, and less expensive as turns pass, so you are encouraged to try new strategies often.
Explode your friends!
Work together with your friends in online co-op. Save each other from near death or accidentally blow up each other!
Spellmasons features a unique “Faction-based” turn system where you and your friends can take your turn at the same time to keep the action going.
Specialize your magic
The Rune system adds a whole new layer to your magical potential by enhancing and specializing your magic. If you want to be a Contagious Plague Mage who carries around curses so you can infect enemies wherever you go, you can do that. How about a necromancer who creates copies of himself whenever he teleports and has a random chance to resurrect any enemy that he kills to fight for him? Yup. The possibilities are endless.
Challenging and Rewarding
Champion-ranked enemies provide an extra special challenge. They have modifiers such as “Growth” which makes them become stronger over time so you need to dispatch them quickly or “Slime” which gives them the ability to clone themselves. Champions will make you think beyond your favorite strategies and come up with something new.
Uncover Secrets and Exploits
Find clever ways to push beyond your maximum mana to pull off ridiculously powerful spells.
Some spells combine in powerful and unexpected ways and the Discord community is always discovering new secrets.
Will I enjoy Spellmasons?
Spellmasons is a thoughtful, challenging, deliberate turn-based experience. Take your time, think creatively, and watch all of your plans unfold just like your diabolical little heart intended!

Pretty good game, spells work very well together and the game even when you load up a bunch of spells with different interactions on a huge amount of enemies (and resurrected allies), the game never breaks. It can get quite insane once you get really strong in a run where you can clear the whole map with just 1 spell rotation, and the game gets a bit easy at that point, but overall would recommend to try the game. Also works great co-op with friends.
You can't succeed without summoning, but as far as I've played I've never seen an "end" to a run that did not result in death. Not enough build diversity because you eventually will get every spell. You cannot say NO to a card, period. The base wizard is a piece of shit who can barely cast anything because mana isn't well balanced, the second version of playable character is far superior and can basically cast anything all the time, and the third is frankly just too hard to play. Literally the Goru is just "hurt yourself to cast" which would be fine if there was any balance to it. Part of the selling point of the game is the "crazy combos" you can make, but the reality is that you're only mixing ways to target. Most of the spells do very little damage. The curse builds don't work very well, particularly the submerge builds. My absolute biggest gripe is the lack of information. There's a "codex" but it takes you to a wiki. No thanks, just tell me what things do.
I quite enjoy Spellmasons. I do wish there was some sort of meta progression and more variation in the stages themselves, but it's a lot of fun with friends. If you all go in blind, you'll be asking, "surely this doesn't actually work the way I think it does" and it usually does work that way. There are three classes/characters you can play as, and the game seriously feels as though it was only truly balanced for the first class. In my experience, anyone playing the other two classes ALWAYS becomes more powerful than anyon playing the default class. The two added classes are fun to play for a little while, but you get to the point where you're so powerful that you just carry runs by killing everything on the map in one turn, and anyone you're playing with doesn't get to do much. Still highly recommend the game!
This game is a blast and its even better with friends. The amount of spell combinations and perks you can have changes the game every time you start a new run. Honestly its a steal for $20 if you love spell crafting games and hanging out with the gang, conjuring up ways to kill the entire room with one cast and hoping your buddies forgive you for blowing them up.
Really is worth it. It's an amazing light game that can be played off and on that can quickly grab your attention with it's strategic challenges and understated pixel spectacle. Co-op being a nice bonus. Recommended for players who want a cool mindful game they can stop and start whenever.
I love this game. For a long time, I've been delaying making this review, I just wasn't sure what to say, as the game is great, I didn't think there was a need to; but I just realized the number is reviews is quite low, so this is what I have to say: This is the game I've got the most hours out of my steam library, apart from OBS, wich is not even a game. It has potential to be replayed forever without getting ever bored. The moment I bought it I thought "Oh, there's definitely something there", and I didn't play for a while later iirc, but days after, there was an update, and I realized "They keep updating this?, that's cool", that's the moment I saw the game again, and looked at its creator Jordan, and realized how small the team making the game was. This game has been in delevepment for more than 2 years, when I played it, I saw some small things that could be fixed, so I joined the discord, and the main developer answered the next day. With this I want to say how active and respo...
Neat & unique. Satisfying tactical wizarding with friends. I love winning when the odds are against us. I love losing because I accidentally exploded my buddy. It's good for a laugh and for getting crunchy with it and clutching hard. Well worth your time.
Simple and fun design. Very easy to get sucked into. Worth buying on sale.
I think this game will scratch someone's itch for a surprisingly complex turn based battling game. While it isn't my cup of tea, I do recommend giving it a shot if you're interested in this kind of stuff. 100% I think for the right person you will get more than $20 worth of time out of this game.
